I have not watched a single episode of any of the airing BLs this week. I have been completely arrested by Why Her?. After 16 episodes, one hour runtime each, I just finished it moments ago. I absolutely loved every single moment.

i enjoyed that as well =D

i think that's what makes this bl drama club different from the bl group, we love bls but can talk abt anything even if it's not bl, like kpop or straight shows =D

So, I watched ep 1 and started ep 2 of Duang with You. I don't love it, nor do i hate it. For now, I think it'll be a show I watch an episode a day or every other day until it hopefully picks up and makes me want to binge the rest.

In other news:

Crazy Love Moo Moo Ep 5: asdfghjkl!! i'm so happy!!

Your Dear Daddy - WTF was that ending?!

LoS - I'm annoyed with Krit. Poor Wayu!

For DWY I watched the first 3 episodes while it was airing then wait to binge watch and that was a good decision I enjoyed it better that way.

Super quick, I have 7 BL titles still to air for June but no time to post them here as links, soooo here's my WTA list link if you want to check them out. All titles are at the top of the list in date order. I added a new-to-me title early this morning.

Just finished the final episode of Love You Teacher, and what a beautiful final episode it was. Really really really loved this series! You guys are going to get sick of hearing me say this but Perth & Santa are just absolutely fantastic! I'm so happy that they are a pair, because it's definitely as perfect a match as it gets.

I agree. Perth and Santa did a good job in handling all the various emotions in each episode. And love the theme in the whole drama too. They tackled such heavy topics while remaining light hearted at the same time. Truly beautiful.

Same thoughts 😁

That seems promising. Just gotta get through ep 3 then.

I'm catching up with Fourever You Season 2, but I'm reminiscing about Bas and the first time I ever saw him in a BL. He has been one of my longstanding favorite actors and is so adorable. Anyhow, I was thinking back to when I saw him that first time in 2 Moons.

This scene was one that I fell in love with. It's baby Bas singing such a beautiful song and playing the piano. I can't believe how quickly time is going by. He, like other actors, have grown up so quickly. Hard to believe it's almost 10 years since he did 2 Moons. If you haven't watched this series, add it to your plan to watch list.

For anyone who is currently watching Double Helix, when does the story really pick up and give the dark angsty romance that we all want. What episode number.

I've currently only watched 4 so is asking can I just skip some episodes

Unfortunately not really until episode 9, but watch the end of episode 8 for set-up. Honestly the rest kind of blend together for me.

Can I just skip the episodes in between or would it be too confusing for me

Yes! Even if the quality of some of these early BLs was bumpy by today's standards, I love seeing my favourite Thai BL actors in their first roles when they were young and in some cases just kids, e.g. Fluke Natouch (then 17yo) in "My Bromance" (2014), Ohm Pawat and Peak Peemapol (both barely 16yo at the time) in "Make It Right" (2016), Earth and New (of GMMTV) in "Water Boyy" (2017), and of course 17yo Perth Tanapon in "Love By Chance" (2018) - just as some examples that jump to mind.

Someone else needs to answer this. I never skip or speed up anything.

Yeah, BLs were sometimes a little rough around the edges in the 20-teens, but if course we're looking back through a lens of time having passed and seeing how much they've polished and evolved, still evolving.

That said, I find it now a certain charm to early BL productions because they were finding their footing both as an industry and actors. I have not seen any of the ones you mentioned, but the earliest production that I ever saw Ohm in was He's Coming to Me (2019), but I watched that within the last year.

I was curious to see what other things he was in earlier on and that's how I found it by digging up his past roles. I loved the story and it was really cute getting to see young him and Singto earlier in their acting career. This was another BL from that era, and you can tell their acting was a little bit dry(but not distracting), but overall it was still a well-made series that I truly truly adore. The first series I ever saw him (and Nanon) in was Bad Buddy.

I saw a comment about early BL having a raw and real feeling even if they’re flawed. I think this comment specifically was about’Cause You’re My Boy, but I can’t find it anymore. I did think there was a certain truth to it. For all its flaws, ‘Cause You’re My Boy really captures the angst of being a teenager and the intensity and confusion of first love. I have gone back and watched quite a few early shows. I’ve tried to avoid ones that are universally panned, but some are worth it for perspective. Unfortunately there aren’t many without annoying elements but I still found most worth the watch. I especially liked Together with Me and Love By Chance. I actually watched all the 2 Moons ones as well.

The Chinese Addicted from 2016 was really good (noncon behavior warning) even if they never got to include the final episodes. From the later episodes of the Thai version, I’m fine with that.

Note: I went and looked up my completed shows by date, and if we’re talking early series we can’t forget the iconic SOTUS.

Also, Strongberry made Long Time No See in 2017 before anyone else was doing much beyond campus romances. (I can’t speak for Chinese BLs before the 2016 crackdown.) I really love this and it’s a crime/mafia BL. It’s available on Gaga as a movie. It’s also the only BL I’ve ever seen where someone falls down trying to take their pants off quickly. I loved that little bit of humor and realism.

Ditto to both. I love some of these early BLs, despite their considerable flaws - partly out of nostaltia, partly for the cuties, but partly (as you both say) because they have a certain gem-in-the-rough quality.
