anyone here who has read the manhwa and watched the live-action adaptation of painter of the night? did the live action do justice to it? i haven't read the manhwa but i enjoyed the adaptation even if it's a vertical
I only read it a bit and I don't think I will watch it. Verticals are not for me, so I'm no help sorry.
p43425:
Ohm Pawat and Peak Peemapol (both barely 16yo at the time) in "Make It Right" (2016), Earth and New (of GMMTV) in "Water Boyy" (2017), and of course 17yo Perth Tanapon in "Love By Chance" (2018) - just as some examples that jump to mind
I watched these three around the time they were released. If they were released today, they probably wouldn't be able to keep up with the BLs being released these days, but I'm glad I watched them. It's crazy how young Ohm and Peak were !
Fake Fact Lips ep 7 : Really good like always !
Love of Silom ep 9 : I was frustrated by a lot of the characters' actions for at least the first two-thirds of it, but I enjoyed the last third. I'm sorry I laughed at Krit fully dressed in the bathtub smoking cigarettes while crying 😆
A Dog and a Plane ep 2 : I knew it ! I knew he was cheating with him ! I hope the cheater gets what he deserves. And I hope Veha and Akki have more scenes together in the next episode their chemistry is 🔥 Sometimes I felt like I was just watching Tay and New bicker and flirt with each other😁 It makes me want to rewatch Dark Blue Kiss.
Since I was frustrated with Love of Silom it was good to follow with A Dog and a Plane.
I just finished the book Love Mechanics. It was good, even if it was a bit weird switching narrators every chapter. I think there might be a Book 2. I can’t really compare it with the drama because I don’t remember it well, but I’ll probably rewatch it soon to see how close it was to the book.

I'm catching up with Fourever your Season 2, but I'm reminiscing about Bas and the first time I ever saw him in a BL. He has been one of my longstanding favorite actors and is so adorable. Anyhow, I was thinking back to when I saw him that first time in 2 Moons.
This scene was one that I fell in love with. It's baby Bas singing such a beautiful song and playing the piano. I can't believe how quickly time is going by. He, like other actors, have grown up so quickly. Hard to believe it's almost 10 years since he did 2 Moons. If you haven't watched this series, add it to your plan to watch list.
thanks for this info! i love bas, and will add 2 moons to my list =D

I have not seen enough yet to form any opinions.
I look forward to the next episode.

Love of Silom (Uncut Ver.) - episode 9
Krit's Conundrum
I am disappointed by Krit's choice, but sadly not surprised. Oftentimes in these series characters bend to the pressure and will of their homophobic parents. In the beginning Krit gave me some hope that he would take a stand against his father, but ultimately he surrendered to not just his father's pressure and homophobia, but also to his own cravenness. I think it is not just a poor excuse to say that he broke up with Wayu to protect him from his father, but it is also an easy excuse to make, to avoid confronting his own lack of courage to demand and enforce his self determination and autonomy. Today it is Wayu and tomorrow it will be another guy; how many loves will Krit be willing to shut out?
I say all this not trivialise the internal conflict Krit is certainly experiencing, but to point out that at some point a choice must be made; your ultimate happiness or the happiness of others at the sacrifice of your own happiness and freedom. Are you willing to fight for it? I had really hoped that Krit would have stood his ground, and be honest with Wayu. Allow Wayu to decide for himself if he wanted to stand by you come what may. I said it before in some other review, that claiming to protect loved ones by hurting them on purpose is no true protection, it is merely selfish validation of one's own lack of courage; you are stripping away the opportunity from that loved one to decide because you have created your own myopic conclusions.
I wanted Krit to not follow this all too familiar script. Fans have seen this same scenario play out too often. I wanted Krit to be the difference, to show that it is possible to stand your ground with your partner. Too often this story-line is resolved by the homophobic parent changing their mind in some capacity due to a softened heart from watching their child suffer. Why must writers perpetuate this narrative that does not often translate to the realities of life. In real-life these parents sometimes remain unchanged and rooted in their beliefs at the cost of their children's happiness. I want to see a character who will stand firm with their partner come what may because ultimately pity will not move everyone's heart. Let there be such a character, even if they are single when they take such action, to give fans who may be scared to live their truth, the strength to rebel, to break out of the wall-less prison - to come out. If your love depends on permission then is it worth it? You cannot expect to change a person's heart and mind, especially strong homophobic ones, by passive actions and choices. As Newton's first law of motion states, an object will not change its motion unless acted upon by an external force. Maybe I am stretching this law of physics too far to underscore my points, but my overarching point remains the same, surrender will not give you freedom and only freedom will give you true happiness.
The Unique Hurt of a First
As reluctant as I am to ever inject my personal experiences in these reviews, due to how fresh my experience is, it made the fact that Krit was Wayu's first everything more palpable to me, resulting in the hurt hitting a little too close to home. In my case it was not anything like this series about a coming out, a relationship, break-up or anything like that. I was in what can fairly be described as a situationship. More senior members here would remember me often saying that I am virgin in many aspects (shocking I know, what can I say the coach does not play). Hence, this guy gave me a lot of firsts - I am still a virgin, meaning I did not have sex; my senses may have been stunned momentarily by butterfly feelings, but your boy ain't no fool. Anyway my point is, without divulging too much of my business lol, that when someone is your first romantic experience getting hurt by them is not something you easily get over. Due to it being your first confrontation with such hurt you question yourself wondering what you did wrong and overthink a thousand ways things could have played out differently. Bringing it back to the series, Wayu constantly asks Krit what he did wrong, he felt for the first time romantic defeat at such magnitude and intensity. For me this really underscores Poom's acting in how he brought out the emotions to make me pause and reflect on my own experience. Perhaps I am over exaggerating this situation to match my own because of the rawness of my experience due to how recent it is - months old at this point.
Wayu's Job
It was obvious and inevitable that Wayu would have to quit his job. Honestly this was dragged out unnecessarily. Nevertheless, I am glad to see him going back to school to pursue higher education. I am especially happy because he did not allow his break-up to hold him down, and instead is moving on with renewed purpose. I am glad he did not run to Krit to try and fix things. He respected Krit's decision, and I am of the opinion he is right to do so. Only Krit can make the decision to pursue his own freedom.
Friendship and Family
It is in times of sadness, trouble, and heartbreak that we see who our true friends and families are. Wayu's mother and sister, and his friends at the club stood with him. They supported him when he needed it, and that for me was a highlight of the episode. Foei is indeed a caring parent figure to Wayu.
This ended up being longer than initially intended, but I believe I still managed not to yap for too long. I look forward to the next episode. I will reserve my other comments for the finale review.
I'm finally doing my binge catch-up of "When Oranges Fall". I'm feeling the need for young first love and adorable fluffy cuteness!
And of course, seeing Almond & Progress automatically reminds me of "Love Sick 2024", which I adored - not only for them and the massive cast of cuties but also the authenticity of teen emotions and behaviours, reinforced by actual teen actors rather than 20-somethings playing teens, as in so many other school BLs.
Anyways, Tia51 (maker of "Love Sick 2024") seems to be nearing the end of production on "Love3", including some of the same cast. If it's anywhere near as good, this is one I'm especially looking forward to!

I hope you are enjoying your trip.
Thank u, I did. I fly home later today! Yay meeeee!!!!
I think this trip is the longest I've gone without watching ANYTHING!! It wasn't going to work since my friend sticks her nose into my screen whenever she wants. That would have been very uncomfortable to have a BL on. Right now she's showering, haha. I love my clingy friend but I'm sooooo ready for alone time. 😭
In 6 days I'm gone again, for even longer. 🥲 At least part of that time I'll only have dogs for company. I can watch all the dramas I want, yippee!! 🙌 🐶
Tonight I'll pick a brand new BL to start!!
I was away for the weekend, so I am really behind on some shows. I did manage to catch on two during yesterday and today.
May contain spoilers!
Payback ep 2
Still liking this very much.
The story is progressing and the main couple is intriguing, I feel the chemistry between them is something that will start now building up and I like the tension the main plot probably will bring in to the dynamic.
The manager character in this also seems funny, but also he seems to have a more serious side, even if I am not sure was it specified that was the little girl in the first half of the episode his daughter or maybe a relative he is looking after. Can't wait for ep 3!
Crazy love moo-moo episode 5
Oh dear god Moo and Fu are going to be insufferable now aren't they? I will repeat myself from previous post from ep 4, Fu is actually very tolerable and pleasant character when he acts normally. It was actually nice seeing him talking about the hotel business side seriously.
Now about the real reason why Moo has been so against Fu pursuing him. Could the stupid thing he said in high school have been resolved with them talking earlier? Yes definitely! However having experience with school bullying, I know how traumatizing cruel words can be especially to a teen with a crush, so I can kind of get it. Also just generally Fu should have just used a different approach in showing his feelings towards Moo.
I am bit surprised we got this far already on ep 5. Since everything has been cleared and they are very much into each other, what is the plot (like there was any until this point) for the rest of the episodes? Seriously the whole plot until now was Fu's desperate attempt to woo Moo, so what is exactly going to happen in the future eps?
(Right answer: apparently Moo will get jealous again, more slow-motion kissing scenes and the spicy scenes, bc fan service). 😄

I really enjoyed reading your insights. I agree with everything you said. It might sound weird, but I feel like I'm enjoying the episode even more now thanks to you.

I don't think I've gone a single day in the last 10 years without watching at least 10 minutes of a drama. At this point, I'm obsessed😆
