I'm curious about your choice !

It's late night and finally have time to watch at least one ep of smth...but undecided. I do have to finish Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars soon...

Otherwise it's between 2 titles: Flower Boy & Journey With You. Is one better than the other?

Journey With You is ten times better than Flower Boy in my opinion. But I'm also a sucker for the rebirth trope and historical c-dramas. πŸ˜…

Tiffany:

I watched half of Flower Boy and didn't watched Journey With You but I think Journey With You is better (I'm waiting to binge-watch)

Portugalia67:

I've watched ep 1 to 9 of Flower Boy, it's very average. Wouldn't recommend it.

I watched EP 1 of Flower Boy last night and you ALL are right! It's not good. Not sure I'm in the mood for a historical (Journey With You) atm, so I'll look for a no brainer.

Today was stressful and frustrating . I might think about becoming a hermit or housebound, never stepping out of my apartment. I can order everything to come to my door. No travel whatsoever. After my next trip. 😭

An open letter (desperate plea) to @P'Aoftion:

Tutor and Yim will both turn 26 this summer. Their biological clocks are ticking. Please give them a really good, serious, well-written, non-stupid-comedy BL love story drama before they reach their sell-by date.

Totally with you on this! It doesn't sound like CC is the breakout drama for them like I had hoped. I'm afraid to watch it now. πŸ«ͺ

Saygo:
Thailand kind of ties their BL industry to idols and markets it more to the youth

Bingo

Tiffany:
The new BL A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream from the same creator will be released on Friday 12th.

This is my most anticipated drama!! I for sure will start it right away. No waiting on this one!!

Laalaa17930228:
I just finished Life in Smokey Blue and the show for me was probably one of the most enjoyably BL's in a long time

I have this on my PTW list even though I'm not a fan of second time around romance. Maybe this is a good one to start watching...

RXinw:
I hope you get some rest after your travels back home.

HaHa, read my post above. I wanted to fight someone, but I was a good girl! 😈

("ChermChey" has some good moments, but I'm getting really triggered by the incredibly annoying comedy sound effects.)

I agree that they could do with better scripts, editing, and directors that aren't afraid to play to their strengths... but there is no reason why they can't keep serving up what they do best well into their 40s. It isn't like they will magically become undesirable when they turn 30.

Yes, you're right, of course. I was half joking with my "sell-by date" remark. I wish I could say "fully joking", but I'm realistic about the driving forces of the Thai BL industry.

Also: Fluke Natouch has turned 30, and he's still magically desirable (at least to me)!

Tina:
In total I have watched 15 episodes today. After being in drama slump for a while, I can finally watch something. 😊

Holy cow, ur on a roll!! 😁

RXinw:
a family type atmosphere has been established.

I like and agree! πŸ™Œ

Tina:
I beg Japanese directors to stop adding fish kisses to their shows. It only makes actors look funny and not like the mature people they are.

I'm begging along with u!! πŸ™

RXinw:
The music and cinematography captured my attention. I think I will watch as it airs.

RE: A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream

Yes, let's watch together! This could be GROUP WATCH TIME!! 😊

What's everyone's view on polygamous relationships.

I feel overwhelmed just thinking about it. I don't know anything about it but I know me. I can barely handle myself let alone another person.

Now u got my imagination going thinking about how two strong protective sugar daddy's might work for lots of reasons. Hmmm...

jazme:

mile-apo is past 30 and they're still looking good doing bls

They're not in silly series either, like some of these other BL actors pushing towards 30.

Portugalia67:

So I decided to stop it all, and I've been monogamous since then. On top I prioritize myself and put my relationship with myself first. It may sound weird or egoistic but it has been one of my best decisions so far. My partner is aware of it and fine with it, as long as there is no other partner. He knows he will never get my whole care and attention and love, because some will always go to me.

i think self-love is the most overlooked kind of love. we tend to give our all to someone which later on drains us in the process. and i'm not good at self-love when i'm in a relationship, that's why it's either i have to learn it before going into another relationship, or continue the relationship i have now, with myself =D

I totally get this. I've been practicing self-love for a while now and it's working great! I'm so happy with me, lol. Well, not when I mess up, but yk.

Sorry for all the posts! I can only piggy back quotes one page at a time, to catch up.

good for you. just think that you'll miss out on bls if you're imprisoned =))

exactly! and we all need those serious bls for a change

even when you mess up. for me, it's better to mess up alone than be with someone. i try not to blame and down myself as much, but when i'm with someone, they blame me and i blame myself, so there's too much blame on me, poor me lol

dont be, we missed you too =D

jazme:

have you watched Dangerously Sweet? It's a fiery JBL vertical, I saw some episodes in YT but I think only until ep 9 is there. I'm looking for the rest

It's officially on the Vigloo app. I haven't looked at what's on YT, but it's probably just a teaser to draw people to the app. Vigloo is like Shortime in that subscribing is very expensive, but it's usable for free by watching ads, etc.

jazme:
i hope you're alright

A good BL will make it all better, lol. I just saw the poster for Smokey Blue and I HAVE to watch the guy with the wavy longish hair rn! 😻😻😻

jazme:
if you're imprisoned

Oh right...jail time wouldn't be good.

jazme:

Oh, I was thinking a partner could help fix my mess, haha. yk, a sugar daddy or two.

Aw, I feel better already. πŸ₯° Thx!

I'm gonna start Smokey Blue rn! One thing I REALLY like about JBLs is the short eps (usually 30 mins or less) and less total eps.

Been wanting to watch Double Helix, and I'm currently waiting for it to end so I can binge, but I've been wondering whether or not to watch A Round Trip to Love first since it's the original. The reason why I haven't seen it yet is because I've heard some not-so-positive things about it. Should I start with ARTTL or skip it and go straight to DH?

Gabster:

Good question. I've been wondering about this, too. Reviews of "Round Trip" are exceptionally polarised, and it's not clear to me why.

isn't double helix ending this weekend? so you can start little by little on the binge watch now lol

Did y'all hear the news that Your Sky is getting a Japanese remake? Idk how I feel about this news. I feel like it's too soon for a remake, but I'll still watch it because I loved Your Sky

I remember watching this as it aired. In fact this was one of the dramas that kept convincing me Thai BL sucked πŸ˜…... sorry I hated it. But this is like the 4th Japanese remake of a Thai BL. πŸ€” Wonder what spawned this sudden urge for Japan to go that route. Maybe capitalizing on fans of the originals? Though I might check this out to see if I will feel differently about the Japanese version.

It's fine, we all have different tastes lol. I think they saw the success of remakes like Cherry Magic Thailand and decided they should try it out too πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I'm generally a tough critic of remakes of iconic originals that don't need remaking, and it's hard for me to imagine "Your Sky" without the magic of Thomas and Kong. Nevertheless, I'll definitely give it a try with an open mind.

I assume that these Japanese remakes of Thai BLs are being driven by the domestic Japanese market and that we're not the target audience.

The Thai remake of "Cherry Magic" was one of those very rare remakes that I liked even more than the iconic original, first and foremost because Tay & New were so perfect in their roles but also because of top-notch writing and execution.

Since it's the same story, it might be a bit weird for you to watch both adaptations back-to-back. Double Helix is rated higher than ARTTL, so if we assume the ratings reflect the quality, that would mean watching a lower-quality version and then a higher-quality one.

I watched ARTTL about 10 years ago, but I don't plan to rewatch it before Double Helix. However, out of curiosity and to compare how closely the adaptation follows the original story, I would probably take another look at it afterward.

Yeah, I think you're right. If I watch "Round Trip" at all, it'll be after "Double Helix", mainly out of curiosity to see how they compare.
