A Dog and a Plane episode 3: I loved it! I liked the pace, the humor, the two couples... and hearing them speak French was so funny. "C'est si romantique" πŸ˜†

Chermchey episode 5: I like it, but I don't love it. I'm happy to see TutorYim, and I enjoy the chaos, but sometimes it's just too chaotic for me πŸ˜† Also, fewer sound effects, please!

Double Helix episode 1: I'm binge-watching this one today. I watched the first episode last night, and it was so good. I loved it. For now, Lu Feng looks sweet for now, so seeing him turn toxic is going to be interesting to watch.

Ditto on "ChermChey". There are some good moments and components, but it could be so much better.

I still need to start on "Dog and a Plane" and to binge-watch "Double Helix", but I'm feeling mentally overwhelmed right now and in need of low-brain comfort watches. Having just finished my Nth re-re-watch of "Takara's Treasure", I'm now re-re-watching "Make It Right", which I haven't watched in ages. (I was reminded by the recent announcement of the upcoming remake "Make It Right 2026", see above.)

Double Helix : the brothers have the same name ? It will be confusing.

Oh maybe I will too but I don't know if I will before or after seeing the 2026 version.

Their names are written by different chinese characters but the spelling is the same

Older one using Chen = day and younger using Chen = dawn

the older one is also called xiao chen so you will see this name mentioned too

Jeff & Keng singing together! This song is on my daily playlist. ❀️

Yeah I think it was me who mentioned this feeling like a filler episode. A lot of drama and action, but very little that progressed the plot. I am thinking with two eps to go the last two ones are going to be really hectic: the criminal case having to be wrapped upped, Wayu and Krit sorting their relationship out and Krit having the guts finally to stand up to his father.

I hope it won't feel too rushed, we need the last two episodes to be at least 1 hour long each.

Yeah agree 100% with this one. I would hope this show being a high quality production BL that they won't have to rush the plot lines.

Portugalia67:
Happy I didn't push further to the 6th ep if it's to go through the same suffering again this week.

I assure you, you are not missing anything! Your time is def. better used in other show or in general to other things.

RXinw:
I hate Yi Cheng's brother to the greatest degree. He is spoiled and selfish; the most selfish character I have ever had the displeasure of watching.

You made me get out my laptop just to quote this! lol But yesssss. I felt the same way. I'm so glad I'm not alone in this.

RXinw:
He slowly broke down Lu Feng's psyche with his practised action of leaving.

In the first instance I was a forceful breakup by both sides parents neither had a chance to make a decision either way. The second time I think has more to do with the manipulative abuse Yi Cheng's mother uses coupled with the facts he has already faced his fathers death and is looking at his mothers death around the corner. It was upsetting, but I think this was Yi Cheng's desperate attempt at trying to calm everything thing down so he can manage them.

After this, I don't think Yi Cheng ever truly tries to leave again. Even after shot he keeps close to Lu Feng and even makes the decision to get out of the car to go back to Lu Feng.

That being said, I think from Lu Feng's perspective, this certainly is the truth and really, how he interprets Yi Cheng's behavior and reacts to it is what matters to the story.

RXinw:
It is easy to look solely at Lu Feng when discussing obsession, but what do you call a man who runs back to a man who ostensibly killed his parents, crippled his brother, forced himself on him (the writers made it difficult to say rape like what happened in the novel), imprisoned him, and emotional abused him - I call that obsessed.

I totally agree to this. I do love that Lu Feng's diagnosis sets this drama in a more realistic setting of a man who just refuses to acknowledge his illness so I can love this drama for what it is.

However, I was hoping for a realistic toxic relationship. The kind that is more subtle, like gas lighting and systematically isolating Yi Cheng from any outside support and it not be a mental illness, but a full blown obsession. I understand why they didn't go that route, but was still a little disappointed.

Double Helix spoilers ahead :

RXinw:

Double Helix - Finale

This was really interesting to read thank you

RXinw:

the writers have created such a story that allows me to paint Lu Feng as a victim

I often felt bad for him and wondered if there was something wrong with me πŸ˜†

RXinw:

We must also consider the fact that while Yi Cheng had his brother, mother (before she died), Qin Lang, and Zhuo Lan, Lu Feng practically had no one.

I think it's one of the reasons why I felt bad for Lu Cheng more often than for Yi Cheng.

RXinw:

In my view Yi Cheng is the black flag here; his actions, whatever the motives behind them, drove Lu Feng insane, literally. He slowly broke down Lu Feng's psyche with his practised action of leaving. This created an expectation in Lu Feng's subconscious, and later consciousness, of abandonment. Imagine constantly being abandoned by the one you love; being the last consideration in every conflict.

I completely agree !

And I agree, the brother was selfish, I saw him as a little kid, but ten years had gone by, so his age couldn't always be used as an excuse.. I wish we had seen more of him so that his good side could have been shown as well.

As for the bipolar disorder, it bothered me a little that they portrayed it that way, almost as if he could spend a little time in the hospital and be completely cured.

But I liked that they showed the impact of Lu Feng's illness on Yi Cheng by showing him having nightmares, especially since I was in a similar situation.

The scene that made me cry the most was the brothers' reunion. Yi Cheng hadn't seen his brother for five years, and he didn't know whether he was paralyzed. Then, suddenly, his brother was standing right in front of him, running toward him. 😭

I absolutely love the music !

8.5/10

I need to rewatch A Round Trip to Love I barely remember anything but it will probably end up being really different.
