Yesterday (and for the past few days), I had a hard time concentrating, so it might have had an impact on my viewing experience.
Completed :
Meet You at the Blossom : I wasn't really invested in the story (although sometimes I was a bit lost, but I blame my lack of concentration for that) or in the main couple, but objectively it wasn't bad.
Most of the time, I don't like it when the main couple spends a lot of scenes or even entire episodes apart. Weirdly enough, this time my favorite episodes were the ones where they weren't together.
I also thought one of them was going to die since they talked about death quite a lot in episodes 3 and 4.
I wish we could have seen more of the second couple and that they had a real storyline. It felt like their story was happening in the background, but most of it wasn't shown on screen.
I won't rewatch it but it was not bad 7.5/10
LoveSick 2024 : First, I have to say that I watched the original back in 2014, and it holds a special place in my heart because it was my very first BL.
At first and for a good part of the show I was a bit lost because there were so many characters. However, I think it's a good remake. I liked the characters and how flawed they were, with all their insecurities and misunderstandings. To me, they were the definition of high schoolers (even if, in real life, there's usually a little less drama 😆).
I got attached to quite a few characters, and I'm glad they made the female characters likable. I do wish some of the side couples had gotten more screen time, and I also would have liked a more complete resolution for Per and Mawin, especially regarding Mawin's father. That said, I understand why they chose to end it that way, because those kinds of issues take time to resolve, and their lives continue even after the last episode.
I also wanted to see more of Earn and Pete. I feel like we saw them much more often in the original.
I'm also happy to have discovered so many new cuties. 🥹
It's really hard to compare this remake to the original because 12 years separate them, and I watched the original when I was in high school, so I'm a very different person now. I think I got more attached to the characters in the original, but that's not surprising considering how much longer it was 12 episodes for the first season and 36 for the second.
Overall, I'd say I prefer the original, but that's probably also because I was in high school when I watched it, so I related to the characters more. I remember being really invested in PhunNoh, OhmMick, and PerMawin, while there were other couples I wasn't particularly interested in.
That said, I also think I might find the original a bit outdated if I watched it now. I actually plan to rewatch it later this year because I'm curious to see whether I'll enjoy it as much as I did back then.
One thing I can say for sure is that I really loved the friendships in both versions. And it was such a nice surprise to see the original female leads make a cameo in the remake. 💜 8/10
Just a small complaint : Suddenly, in episode 14, Ohm was supposed to have feelings for Noh ? I had always thought they were just really close best friends. Then Mick made me wonder if I had missed something. At first, I thought he had simply misunderstood, but after the "my heart is beating faster because your face is so close to mine" scene between Ohm and Noh, I was completely confused.
Was I the only one who felt confused by that whole part ?
ETA : I also watched the first episode of Match Point, but I will talk about it together with the first episode of Be My Player Two, which I'm about to watch now, since I just finished the JohanNorth novel.
