@Tiffany, I'm afraid I have to go back on my word: We said we would watch "Connecting To You" (starting today with 4 eps., then 2 eps. on each following Friday)

I'm jumping in to say I watched the first ep and it looks promising. I've been looking forward to this story for a long time! I'll catch more eps later.

OMG! As of September 12th, Saturdays will have Mr Fanboy, Police in Love, AND You Maniac!!

As I said before, Saturdays this fall are gonna be freaking LIT!!

What's everyone's favourite country for BLs in general

I know Mr.P is Japan and I know korean BLs are not as popular as other countries.

For me it's:

Thailand

Taiwan

China

Korea

Japan

K-Dramafan21:

I don't know if anyone has said this already but ohms new partner was announced. It is jjay. I don't know him so I will research a little what his previous work is because how can I have never heard of him (maybe I am in the other bubbles)

i only paid attention to shine for mileapo. i'll have to go back and check him out bc i don't know him.

Unique_rain:

I know Mr.P is Japan

True, but I love a really good BL from any of these five countries, especially with cutie-patooties that tickle my fancy. (Vietnam, too --> Viet-cuties!)

my ranking and my general opinion:

1-China (one banger after another)

2-Thailand (a lot of content and variety. some can be a miss, but there’s both good and bad quality, and i can usually find something good)

3-Taiwan (i think a few years ago it could’ve been on my top list, but not lately)

4-Japan (not bad but sometimes i find myself wishing for more variety)

5-Korea (i wish they reduce the verticals and the very short eps, like 10 mins. i can’t get invested that way , i prefer longer eps like 30mins-45 mins)

OK, since Unique Rain started this discussion, let's do it scientifically ...

Generally speaking, what's your favourite country for BLs?

Thailand

Japan

For me:

  1. Thailand (only watch them right now; have many bls so the range what to watch is big and content never goes out)

  2. Taiwan (haven't watched any in recent months but usually like)

  3. Japan (Right now I don't like them because from Manhwa adapted dramas ate not my style right now)

  4. China (too many toxic and sad endings for me personally) and Korea (not good quality I mean usually short dramas and somehow the plots don't range. I just don't like how the bls are portray being gay often but it is still like that in the country. I just don't like most plots and I rarely find non short bl productions or bls in general from this country)

If I have to choose a country I would definitely say Thailand because for the past months I only watched this country. I can't really talk about more recent things. Another advantage for thai bl for me is that gmmtv puts some of their series (if not geoblockted) on YouTube and Netflix has some thai bls now too. It is convenient that I don't have to use gagaoolala because I would have to pay another streaming service and gaga has old and many non Thai dramas. Besides Iqiyi bls for example from dormumdi I can watch on YouTube and Netflix almost every time I see a drama

I just came back home from my first week in the army, and I can't wait to catch up on what I've missed!

Holy moly, the Chinese BL rumour mill was correct!

I haven't seen "DFF", "4Minutes" or "Shine", so I've never seen JJay in action, but I assume he's a proven actor. Fingers crossed that this ship sails. Sādhu.🙏

This means that the total Domundi artist count (following Matthis's departure) is now back up to 47 (!).

He was great in 4Minutes but it was a serious role. I have trouble thinking of him playing a comedic or light part. I don’t remember him in Shine. Maybe I’ll watch DFF before Magic Lover comes out.

Congratulations! I’m glad you get weekends off! Watch something good.

Initial thoughts on three dramas that released today:

  1. Hold on, Harutora-Kun: Interesting so far. Harutora’s earnestness is just the perfect combination to Sui’s cheerful yet guarded nature. Clearly Sui has gone through a lot after being outed. The casual homophobia and the way it hurt Sui… Curious to see how this series will progress in the upcoming episodes.

The actor who acts as Harutora was also a part of School Trip as one of the friends of Watarai (Morisaki). I’m glad he got to be main lead in a BL of his own.

  2. Connecting to you: I liked this so far. Four episodes went by very quickly. Chia-Kai’s motives are always to help, though he doesn’t really think things through and ends up in trouble because of it. And it has certainly put him in the sights of policeman Ta Wei. It did have a good blend of humor and seriousness. A decent watch so far.

  3. Weirdo-101: Okay, this was so very cute. Cheewa’s ‘gravity’ flirting got me rolling 😆 Man is direct and flirts with Niran in his own way. I enjoyed this first episode a lot. This one is definitely worth watching, if you haven’t added it to your watch list yet.

I've only watched "Harutora-kun" so far, and I like it. I'll definitely catch-up on the other two when I can, but in the meantime I'm interested to read your feedback.
