Happy Birthday @LueurArcane🎉🎉🎉Hope you have a magical day!

I've started a few new titles that just ended or will be ending soon...and they're all JBLs 😆 I watched the first ep of each drama to get a feel for them. I got this idea from one of you guys here, but I don't remember who. I wanted to know which ones I might enjoy the most and which ones I should pass on.

I don't think too hard or examine too deeply about a drama overall, so my comments tend to be superficial and casual. I'm in it for the entertainment above all else, lol. And I would say many, not all, of the BLs I watch are more lighthearted so there may not be a strong connection to the story or characters like Winter Sun, for example. That drama inspired me more than most.

Your Sky: Hare Nochi Koi - I watched the Thai version while it was airing, along with other members here. I liked and enjoyed it, but didn't LOVE it. I had to keep watching for it to grow on me and I'm glad I finished it. I love Thomas and Teerak's sister was so adorable!. 😍

I'm on the fence about the J-version after EP 1. I have a good impression of Sora, but for Hinata, the fluffy innocent cutie bits aren't there for me. Overall the vibe is less colorful and bubbly than the Thai version. I could keep watching for now. Maybe it gets cuter?

Your Summer, My Storm - There's just enough of a different spin on the story and enjoyable MLs that I watched the first 3 eps. I'm prob more curious about how this story ends than anything else. I do have a soft spot for Natsuki though. I'll keep it on my CW list.

My Summer of You - I didn't finish the first ep. It felt like a recycled x 100 plot with the exact same lines like so many school JBLs. Convos are cookie cutter and uninspiring. There's no motivation to keep watching. Or it's me. Or my bias is showing. 😭🤣. Do I keep watching or not...🤷🏻‍♀️

Now I'd rather start Popular Serizawa Acts Weird around Me, but I need to wait to binge watch! Mr. P got me hyped! lol

Thank you for this I see the cat from Choco Milk Shake in Love Penalty.

"Choco Milk Shake" is probably my favourite Strongberry - partly because of my visceral love of dogs and cats, but also because the three lead actors really nailed it. Thus, I'm automatically interested in "Love Penalty".

I agree the actors nailed their parts in this, but I felt a bit weird about the idea of dating my own dog. Maybe my imagination is too vivid. Lol. It was still a very sweet series.

My favorite Strongberry is Long Time No See (2017), which was pretty cutting edge for when it was made. Now we have quite a few BLs in the crime/mafia genre, but back then there were few. To make something this low-budget but still impactful is really impressive to me. Also, I’m discovering that I really love eventful stories and dramatic tension much more than I thought I did.

That’s not to say I don’t still need my cute and fluffy.

@LueurArcane

Have a good one!! 😊

@Indie Art Girl: omg yes I felt the say way about My Summer of You. I watched the whole drama and only two scenes were of any interest and the rest was so boring. The two scenes were the confession in the first episode and the childhood flashback in I believe ep 5. It was just like you said for me 'Convos are cookie cutter and uninspiring.'

Happy birthday @LueurArcane 💜🎉🥳🎂 !!!

Since I’m tipsy and it’s 3:30 a.m., I’m just going to get everything off my chest.

I’m so disappointed in myself. I was supposed to start my 5th year of Korean classes this year, but I completely forgot to enroll earlier. So today I went there, and they told me I couldn’t enroll because the class was already full.

I then saw my teacher, and she was disappointed too, since I’m the student she’s had for the longest time. I started the same year she started teaching, so it made me feel even worse.

So, probably no Korean classes for me this year, even though I have an exam coming up in about a month.

I’m trying to always look for the positive side of things, and if there’s one lesson I can take from this situation, it’s that I should do what I can as soon as I can instead of always putting things off until later. 😭

I’ll need some sweet BLs to comfort me later. I’m so sorry for posting all of this at once, and I’ll probably delete it when I wake up. 😭

(re "Choco Milk Shake") It doesn't bother me, but I can totally understand that concern.

That's probably my other favourite Strongberry. It's held up well over time, i.e. even by today's higher standards I still think it's quite good.

Yay, it's not just me! 👍

Oh that's hard! I'd be tipsy too, if I drank. I hate when I put things off that I could so easily take care of. Try not to beat yourself up to much. ❤️

Haha, the other day I wrote a short post here about why things are feeling mentally difficult atm but I deleted it before posting. Yesterday I got a bit of a break. Things aren't resolved but I'm feeling less frustrated and anxious today. Still not sleeping well yet but soon. And last night I came across this quote on insta "It's a difficult day not a difficult life." It came to me at just the right time.

Enjoy carefree moments whenever possible! We're all doing the best we can! 🫶🏼

Oh man, that is so disappointing. I'm so sorry that happened as I've been there myself with not filling out the appropriate paperwork and missing out. 😮‍💨

Just remember, eventually, this will just be a funny story you tell a group of friends 5 to 10 years from now.

Do I keep watching or not...

(re "My Summer Of You") Unless you suddenly develop tingly love feelings for one or both protagonists, I don't think your opinion will change with subsequent episodes.

I'm going to talk about JBLs for a sec.

First off the special episode to The Servant Prince comes out the 11th on Gaga. Looking forward to watching that.

Top Tier

After Moving Seats: I find this one to be my favorite of the whole batch to be honest. I think it mainly because I like both characters. I want to see and enjoy seeing each of their pov. Most of the others, only one character stands out.

Duty First, Kiss Later: One of the two adult j-dramas airing and I'm enjoying Watanabe Shu chaotic acting.

Popular Serizawa Acts Weird around Me: really love the premise but Suzuki character kind of irritates me just a smudge. Waiting for some more character development.

Mid Tier

Your Sky: Average but likeable.

Your Summer, My Storm: Starting off really interesting. Then started to fizzle out. Still likeable.

My Summer of You: offically complete and boring average for me.

Bottom Tier

Love Is Better Season 2: This may change as I've only watched the first episode, but it doesn't feel like two people who worked things out and are in a serious relationship, but almost like that stage right before you get serious and that kind of put me off because I really liked the first season.

Hold on, Harutora-kun: This one is just weird in execution, which should have made it interesting, but I just get irritated by both characters instead.

Overall I think Japan has nailed it this year with both quality and quantity. Obviously we can't like them all, but overall I'm enjoying the variety. What do you guys think?
