Mame is really making bank with most of her novels pretty much getting adaptations. I'm not really a fan of her writing but I end up watching all her BLs lol. I'm curious to see this new one.

Frrr. Mame is living the life but I still know I totally want to watch this

Dammmmmmmmm, I can't wait. One of my favorite ship. 🫣🫠👌🥰💙💙

The brief conversation we were having about our personal opinions on what makes a love story compelling was really interesting. This thread moved on before I could reply to p43425 and Sruthpriya's answers (time zones blarg) so I've made a new one for it in the Thai dramas section. Please join in.

https://kisskh.at/discussions/thai-dramas-lakorns-movies/120255-what-makes-a-love-story-compelling-for-you?pid=2787741&page=1#p2787741

(Speaking of lost posts, my adventures in observing how 3 months of BL have thoroughly reversed my pre-existing heteronormative presumptions and led to the instinct to ship same sex relationships into straight dramas (i'm up to two M-M and a GL, even if the writers have set her up as a love rival), has resulted in my watching... Not Me. In all fairness, it just couldn't be helped. I've gotten to episode 5 of the non-Thai/non-BL historical drama and the FL's dying brother, whose dream for her was that she be the first female student at the Imperial College, had told her to look for a friend named White. The ML has finally acknowledged that he is, indeed, White. FL gets furious with him and calls him him Black for his lies. So now I'm watching Not Me and nothing else exists.

 Rikku:
eheheh, it's not a bad series
 Rikku:
Let me know what you think

(re "Hit Bite Love", look back two pages)
So, I watched the whole thing - and I would say it's more than "not bad", actually pretty good (provided that one isn't triggered by certain themes, which I'm not). Yeah, there's a lot of deliberately lurid stuff, and the story is rather messy - but I was never bored for a moment. And actually, the best of the three storylines (Burger/King) was totally non-lurid and actually just a really good, sweet story of first (but sort of unrequited) BL teen love.

 Rikku:
I also blame the fact that subtitles were horrendous

Hmm ... yeah, the subtitles were deficient, and some lines were missing - but I could follow everything, and I've managed to get through worse!

 Rikku:
the sexual innuendos were a bit too much

Huh ?  How can sexual innuendos be "too much"? Just kidding. Yeah, it was definitely the most sexually explicit school BL I've seen. But somehow, by Episode 6, it all fit together pretty well.

 Rikku:
I think the low ratings might also have to do with the ending

Yeah, with the cliffhanger ending, I sure hope they do a second season or I will be very unhappy!

 Rikku:
many scenes were cut and put into a "VIP" subscription channel on Youtube, meaning you have to pay to watch

I paid to watch the full uncut version. I don't mind.

 Rikku:
For me it was not the BDSM or the sexual overdrive, but more like I couldn't really understand some bits and pieces.

Yeah, the story construction and writing could have been better (not to mention the subtitles), but I was able to follow everything. The way things came together in Episode 6 was weird but interesting!

For just six episodes, there were also a lot of serious themes, including coming out and self-acceptance, being outed, bullying and cyberbullying, reputations being destroyed on social media, and much more. And yet also enough fluffy cuteness that the series wasn't a total downer.

Well, I'm glad you liked it because in the end that's the point: watching something enjoyable ;) (I also had a preference for Burger/King *-* the name combo was hilarious).

I watched it when it was airing, so I enjoyed the mistery but I must reiterate that unfortunately subs were not good. It's my fault for not being good enough at Thai, but sometimes while watching it I was truly puzzled.

(I must admit it happened a few other times with Thai dramas... almost never happened with J, Taiwanese or K BLs, so I wondered if there was some kind of cultural difference, but it seems like it's not the case xD).

Truly glad you enjoyed it ;)

Not Me is a great show ;D

anyone watched between us the finale episode ?

the one you have to pay for in yt?

i tried searching for it everywhere but its not there . you HAVE to pay . and im a broke  who loves bounprem :(

can anyone tell me how it was ?

The better quality of subtitles is presumably because Japan, Taiwan and South Korea are rich countries (more than four times the GDP per capita of Thailand) that can afford to pay for subtitlers, plus Taiwan and Korea have a lot of very good English speakers. This wealth gap is presumably also why so many Thai production companies depend on making money from product placements and fan service. Although I was never there, I think Thailand is a wonderful country/people and I hope its economy will catch up with the richer countries!

PS: Thanks for the recommentation on "Not Me".

Are you talking about the Thai bl Between Us with BounPrem?

Or is it this one you are referring to?

 thatonewhothrives:

I've not watched "Between Us" yet, but I definitely will (even if I have to pay a bit for it) because "Until We Meet Again" is one of my all-time faves and it's a lot of the same cast, not only Win/Team (Boun/Prem) but most of all:  Dean (Ohm) and Pharm (Fluke), the main characters from UWMA - and one of the best (and nicest) BL shipped couples ever, as well as excellent actors.

Eheheh, I was commenting on Elisheva's post, saying she's watching Not Me, but I definitely recommend it ;)

You know, I thought the same, but then I read some many articles saying that most of the movie production from the US is taking place in Thailand recently! So I hope that Thailand will rise the same way it happened to South Korea (series wise). For Japan and Taiwan, I think they are rich but not as "mainstream" as SK at the moment (in terms of media) even though I think the quality of their production is even better than SK at times :)

But yes, I guess that we're now getting better subtitles due to a growth of International fanbase (same as what happened in the 2010s for South Korea, Japan and Taiwan series (I remember that most of the subtitles in 2011/2012 were really of poor quality indeed! - Sorry, an old soul speaking xD)

Hello, I'd like to join the group. Late to the party but at least I got here. I didn't know I needed it until I found it. Having lots of feelings. :)

This doesn't look like Boun and Prem, so I think it's probably the Filipino one.

Yes it is, I remember watching it some time ago but it was @thatonewhothrives post that reminded me of it and that I had not added it to my list and rated it. Now I don't even remember the story line but I do remember the impression I had of it.
