Jojo:
I’ve also read the manga and that’s even better.

I cannot agree more. There was more depth to the manhwa.

Definitely. Now I feel like rereading the Manga although I’ve already read it twice 😂

 OnyxTheHedgehog:

Also, have u guys heard Why Always Me by Nanon yet?

IT'S SOOOOO GOOD

Istg it's been stuck in my head all day

Like, it's SUCH  a good song

So I listened while watching the MV. So sad and dark. I thought his neck was going to get twisted at the end. I would like it better without the visuals. Thanks for sharing though! :-)

 Jojo:

I’ve heard many good things about Not Me but I’m not a big fan of OffGun hence honestly, that’s putting me off despite there being First, Mond and other great actors in the show. Perhaps it’s because I can’t get over Off’s portrayal of Khai’s character in Theory of Love. I’m not saying he’s a bad actor. In fact, I think he’s a great actor but somehow, I don’t connect with him like other actors.

On another note, I see you also watch Chinese dramas. Have you seen Love is Sweet? If you haven’t, give it a go though the second ML and FL is a love or don’t like them characters.

Ok, I won't say anymore about Not Me, specially since others have chimed in too. That's how good it is, haha.

Chinese dramas are a hit or miss for me. When I like a drama, I really like it and can get all the way through the one thousand episodes.  I'm often bored less than halfway through, and that's what happened with Love Is Sweet.  Well, I didn't really like the characters that much either.

Right now I'm watching Wonderland of Love and so far so good. It helps that the ML is Xu Kai.

Your list made me realise that we share a few 10s and that we have a few series were you gave it a 9 and I gave a 10. Seems we have similar taste. I also realised that the few ones on your list I have not watched are Japanese and bromance. I really do have an aversion. I will have to scroll through some JBL lists to see if I can find ones that really suit me that I have not watched yet.

Yes, do give a few Japanese BL's a chance. They really rate up there for me. Not all of course, but quite a few.  I'm not so keen on non-BL Japanese dramas for a variety of reasons and usually avoid them. Although I have a list of favorites on my pfp come to think of it. It only has 10-11 dramas.

 RiqueXinw:

Okay, so I went to just type a list but I don't have time for that so I just went to an old list I have and updated it, so here is my list of my favourite BLs.

Maybe you have the longest list?

I do see a few matches and I see more that I rated much lower or dropped. :-) :-) I guess we sorta match anyway. I wish the column where we can see our score next to the list person's score could have a "D" for Dropped or an "NI" for Not Interested. I had to click to see what I had chosen. Too many BL's to remember!

Oh yeah the mv was really sad

But the song itself is just so addIcting

I'm not even kidding I've relistened to it like 5 times today

I'm totally and completely addicted to the music and Nanon's voice tho

I am probably about to ruffle some feathers in regards to The Sign fans. Don't get me wrong I was a strong fan in the beginning and I am still a fan just not as strong. Out of respect for those who have yet to watch let me use the spoiler option even though I won't be referencing any specific scenes.

For me there is a preoccupation of the criminal investigations and the storyline of their past lives that overshadows and stifles their romance. After each love scene the affection one would expect in the scenes immediately after just is not there. I believe that because their romance scenes are so scarce their romance ends up taking a back seat which is unexpected given how romantic their story is on paper. This can be attributed to the amount of pussyfooting  that took place for the majority of the series on Tharn's part. Now with just two episodes left so there is not much time for them to be lovey dovey because there are mysteries to be solved and past lives' issues to resolve. This makes me compare it to the masterpiece that is KinnPorche. No matter the situation on screen you can look at Kinn and Porche and see that they are a couple they don't even have to be touching, their affection and love for each other was just so potent and evident in how their story was portrayed. I find that in The Sign no matter how explosively good their love scenes are their regular on screen interactions are that of teammates and not two people madly attracted to each other and in love; bland. I know they have chemistry because in the beginning it was just attention grabbing but as the series progresses that chemistry dwindles; again I attribute this to the lack of on screen affection outside of the bedroom. Even in real life you can look at two people and just by the way they speak, look and move around each other you just know they are together. Again in KinnPorche just by their demeanour, looks and non-sexual actions you can see that they are a couple in love. There are so many other series I can reference whose leads just displayed a level of intimacy that their romantic relationship is so evident. Well there are two episodes left so I hope they squeeze in as much affectionate scenes as possible because while their romance and issues in their past lives are significant the writers cannot forget that they are suppose to be in love in this present life.

That is all I am saying for now.

I agree. I immediately loved this show about 30 seconds into the first episode. While I still think it's a good show, I'm not feeling the same intense interest in it as I did for the first 5 or 6 episodes.

The chemistry between them feels like it's going in reverse. It was out of the gate intense and now it feels tepid. I'm just not feeling it, mainly with Tharn and I don't know why. I respect so much what this show is trying to do, it's an exciting new direction for BLs. I would love more shows like this so I hope it finds a good relationship footing in the last episodes.

Why Always Me by Nanon yet?

Flashing lights warning just in case anyone else here is photosensitive. Not a barrage of flashing lights but repetitive enough to need care if you are.

I could have sworn I wrote that list 😂 except  for History 2: Crossing the Line and History 3: MODC which I didn’t enjoy as much.

I’m glad to see History 3: Trapped on your list. It’s my favourite Taiwanese BL of all times and I’ve lost the number of times I’ve rewatched the show 😂 I love both ML especially Meng Shao Fei when he gets nervous and how his eyes grows big. The balance between action, mystery, romance and comedy is well balanced. I also like the second ML though I did find them somewhat irritating at times (nothing that I couldn’t overlook). For me, this drama is almost the equivalent of the Taiwanese KinnPorsche.

You also have Because of You on your list and that was one of my first Taiwanese BLs that I watched.

 RiqueXinw:
I do, please tell, or message me your thoughts if you don't won't to post them here. I like hearing different opinions; helps me to look at series from many perspectives I never looked from before.

In short, Khai is an abuser. The first half of ToL is an abusive relationship complete with gaslighting and the excuses (mostly) women make to stay in the relationship hoping he'll change. The second half is a woman's fantasy of that change, except the whole thing is so sexist it's a man who changes him of course. And somehow we're supposed to celebrate this even when Khai is continuing to set off alarms in episode 12? It's a dangerous fantasy to put forward. Abusers don't change that quickly. It takes years for abused women to recover and we never do entirely; we're always at risk for falling back into those known patterns. I'm as critical of this in het chick lit, rom coms and dramas. BL doesn't get a free pass just because it's handsome young men.

Jittirain, the screenwriters, director had a far better ending right there too - Third and P'Un being good to each other - if only they had the insight to take it. I know it breaks the sacred rules of BL but imagine how powerful that would have been. That's the kind of model we need to promote - there are so many people in abusive relationships who need to hear it - not the fantasy of going back to an abuser.

I see your point, and even though I still love the show, I think the beginning was better (like generally, not only in the romantic aspect). I think Billy and Babe are a good pairing (so I hope to see them together again in another series too), but I see what you mean. And well, ApoMile imo are one of the best pairings and with all my liking to The Sign, KP was better. Saying all that, I hope to see more BLs like that, in sense of action series and\or police type of series. Also, people on the comments section speak of a special ep, has anyone here heard anything about it?

Another question, can someone please explain me this 'ticket for ep 12 live streaming' thing? does it mean that whoever wantes to see the live stream will have to pay, but who doesn't watch the live stream will still get the ep for free? or we just need to pay to watch the last ep?

Japanese and bromance. I really do have an aversion. I will have to scroll through some JBL lists to see if I can find ones that really suit me that I have not watched yet.

I was going to say, "JBLs are so good, especially in terms of creativity, originality and that uniquely Japanese vibe. Maybe you just haven't found the JBLs that are right  for you!" But then looking at your "Completed" list, I see you have actually watched many or most of my favourites. Oh well, never mind. Stick to what you like most!
