The Sign 6/10

In a way I can get you, I still like the series, but wow this last ep was not good.

 Chun Mo Rionnag:

It was meh for me despite having a unique premise. I uprated it for the second couple but I was badly let down by "Between Us".

Interestingly, I liked Between Us a  bit better. I loved Boun and Prem together. I enjoy sports related stories, so I could be biased that way. But yeah, I think I remember some emotionally messy parts.

 Jojo:
the plot is not as complicated as the description and the Zendaya plot is only at the start. I’m now at episode 4 and so far, it’s been mostly about Krom’s and Fueng’s friendship/relationship. In my opinion, it’s a simple romcom done well

Re: City of Stars - That's good to hear. I'll keep it on my PTW list!

 RiqueXinw:

So I woke up to being tagged in a comment by a friend imploring me to watch Unknown the series. I was hesitant to watch this early on based on the story description but given how well this person's comment laid out the happenings in the first episode I have now been convinced to watch. Apparently it is the same director and writer who were involved in the We Best Love series, My Tooth Your Love series, and Stay By My Side series. This convinced me even more to watch. I don't know how I am going to watch all these series but that is a technicality  which I will be ignoring so let the watching overload begin :)

I like the sound of this one so adding to my long PTW list! I've enjoyed many BLs from Taiwan and hopefully this one will be just as good.

Fighting! haha. You can do it!

Wow haha same! We're quite similar :)

I actually like BounPrem but maybe i had high expectations because i waited for so long for them to have their own project. They kind of let me down with Even Sun. By the time Between Us came along i was hype and i think i gave the show grace because i liked the pairing lol. I don't think it was really  bad, just okay.

The Sign has finally aired the final episode! Who's seen it?

For me, I love the whole story - there was mystery, action, and some bits of comedy. However, I didn't enjoy the last episode as much. In my opinion, despite the happy ending, I felt it was rather messy, things all happened too quickly and I felt like something was missing. The show was about 60 minutes and I wouldn't have minded if it went up to 1.5 hours to give the right pace and explain things with a few more visuals than just words.

Cherry Magic on the other hand, I initially didn't enjoy so much but having just seen episode 11, I'm enjoying it more now. We finally get to see a different Achi - one who is slightly more relaxed and less dull. There's also more facial expressions from him in this episode. Stepping out of his comfort zone definitely makes him more attractive. I'm really glad for that.

I also love Rock and Pai's scene where ||Rock finally confesses his feelings to her. It was done in such a sweet and cute way. Not only that but it was also done with such respect where Rock didn't pressure her at all but said he'll wait for her.|| I love it!

Ach also finally lost his power.

I agree with everything you said. They spent more time looking for Tharn and the explanation for his sudden appearance was so short, as if the doctor would let him go so easily. I just never got that feeling in any earlier episode.

I just finished ep 10 of Cherry Magic and waiting for the final episode to drop before starting ep 11. That way I'm not stuck a whole week with the dreaded 11th chapter.

I love the way Karan is so attentive and devoted to Achi. The whole cast are doing a great job in this series and should feel good about their work when compared to the Japanese version.

The Sign 6/10

I delayed giving my final thoughts because, "Be nice....I am finding it!"

There is this quote that says, "It's all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits", well in this case bad writing giggled and the series turned to shit. If I was to look at this series solely based on production it would have gotten 1000/10; the cinematography and CGI are without a doubt excellent. The acting was also very good and the fight scenes were done well and every little detail was accounted for. The pilot episode as well as the four episodes after were attention grabbing and intriguing. Then how the hell does this series turn out to be a let down? In my opinion the writers bit off more than they could chew and choked, possibly even vomited. There is this preoccupation with the folklore element and crime investigation that the romance aspect was overshadowed and marginalised; it amazed me that even after the NC scenes were one would expect some form of affectionate atmosphere around the characters, there was non and the series dove right back into the previously mention preoccupations. Now if the during these conflicts there was still palpable feelings surrounding the couple then sure why not nothing like a crime fighting-mystery solving couple. Now this ending was anticlimactic and what pissed me off more than ever is that NC scene that they placed in it. For it was like "So even though throughout there was no romance here lets us throw you a bone in the finale", no thanks, frankly this cheapened NC scenes. Anyways at least I am not bitter. That is all I will say, I will save the rest of the rant.

Last Twilight 10/10

Wow, this was an amazing journey. I am glad that I waited until it was complete so I could binge watch it because I don't think I could have survived the wait each week for the next episode to drop. As I have mentioned before what determines a 10 star rated series for me is that one scene no matter which episode it is in, that I emotionally connect with and leaves a lasting impression on me that I will remember anytime I am reminded of the series. Last Twilight gave me a few, which normally does not happen. These were the scenes:

Episode 3 - When Day got lost and Mhok found him in the street hugging him as they reunited. Yup I decided it was a 10 from episode 3.

Episode 6 - When Mhok carried Day to his surprise birthday party and he was giving Day over to August and Day's hand slipped off Mhok's arm.

Episode 7 - When Porjai and Day were talking in the garden and she was telling him about becoming a single mother where he then reassures her by telling her about his mother also being a single mother. This spoke to me personally since I am also from a single mother household; single mothers deserve recognition because their jobs are not easy.

Episode 7 -  When Day agreed to be Mhok's boyfriend at the finish line and Mhok demonstrated the proposal going on using Day.

Episode 9 - When Day and Mhok were on top of the mountain watching the sunset and Mhok's face was the last thing Day saw. This moment right here with Mhok crying was beautiful and sad at the same time; it was everything.

These were the scenes that made the series a 10 for me. Episode 12 was everything from start to finish. I loved how they gave us the cliche airport scene without the cliche outcome of the scene; it made the scene with them dancing and Day asking Mhok for a second chance at their love so much more heartfelt. A truly amazing series, well done GMMTV and excellent job Jimmy and Sea; especially Sea who played the role of a blind man so well that it was believable and strengthened the realism of the character; an amazing piece of acting.

I totally agree. I wish we'd had 30 more minutes. I needed more closure. I needed at least 5 minutes of them being happy together. I needed an ending that didn't fall flat. I needed the build up of the search for Tharn to pay off... and it didn't. I wish they had solved the Montree issue and given it more time in the last episode, and left this episode to the supernatural issue.

I do have to say that Billy hard carried this episode because the way he screamed when he realized Tharn was gone, got me. I was tearing up along with him for a good 10 minutes. Gap who plays Yai got me with the crying scenes too. That man needs to lead his own show, asap, he was so endearing and such a  scene stealer.

From what I heard, this show has several different endings, and when I heard that it annoyed me because it felt like a cop out and like the writers failed to commit to a story. After watching the YT ending, it feels like that was exactly what it was, a cop out. Now I'm tempted to search for the other endings, to see if any of those was better. I was also hoping the YT version would have Saint's cameo but no such luck.

7.5/10 - Overall, I don't want to rate it too low because it did many things well. I don't want to disregard the good stuff due to a mediocre last episode. Hopefully we get more show's in this vein, because I really do enjoy them. Despite it's flaws, The Sign was truly a breath of fresh air.

Due to schoolwork, I need to catch up on current series. Does anybody know what other BLS are still airing besides Cherry Magic, Anti-Reset, and Perfect Propose?

Also, I hope everyone is having a stress-free weekend!

Do you mean other than series that are just starting?

I mean,  series that started this year and is still airing. I think I'm caught up with the ones that aired in January.

Also, I have seen City of Stars but have yet to start it. It's on my PTW. Are you watching it?
