@p43425, glad you’re enjoying La Cuisine. It was really the food that caught my attention and held me most of the time in the series. One of the things that consistent in the show and which I loved is the two friendship groups.
Nothin' wrong with a nice fluffy Thai rom-com when one is in the mood for a nice fluffy Thai rom-com!
Yeah, I really like it when they have a nice group of friends. This reminds me a bit of "Secret Crush on You" and "Tin Tem Jai" (among other BLs), both fluffy lightweight Thai BLs with really sweet friend group dynamics. (I know many others didn't like these so much, but I did.) And just like in these other two BLs, the group of friends includes a really sweet and likeable female character who is integral to the group - Som in "Secret Crush", Barbie in "Tin Tem Jai" and of course the adorable Pangchie in "La Cuisine". (I'm a guy who mostly likes just guys, but she makes me smile. *blush emoji*)
However, one thing that annoys me a bit is the Thai trope of the dislikeable manipulative nasty rhymes-with-witch character who is the competition for the alpha protagonist (Namning in "La Cuisine", Prao in "Secret Crush", Yam in "Oxygen" and various others) and who is so over-the-top exaggerated as to detract from the story. Rather than angels and demons, I wish these Thai writers and directors would try to make the "bad" characters more believable.
