Okay. I'll check it out. Thanks.

 dora569:

I‘ve only watched a few. The Secret of Us, Reverse with Me, 23.5, and Us. Of those I liked Us best.

If you liked Us, I think you'd like more dramatic, atmospheric pieces.

Out of other thai GLs, I think you might have the best chances with Affair or maybe Pluto.

Branching out of thai GLs

Japan

Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna (2 seasons)

Kanojo no Kuchidzuke Kansensuru Libido (2022)

China

couple of mirrors

Miss shen and the woman warlord

Korea

family plan

Philippines

Sleep with me

Taiwan

Fragrance of the first flower (2 seasons)

Check out "Blank". That is my favourite drama of all time of any genre. Just be aware it involves a large age gap which some people have an issue with. Also, the english subtitles are autogenerated (at least in season 1), so they are pretty bad. For better subtitles, check out the profile of https://kisskh.at/profile/PhoebeRise

Ok. Thanks. Age gap doesn’t bother me as long as no one is using power differential to take advantage. Unless it’s supposed to be a warped relationship, but that’s a whole other story lol

I will add these to my tbw list. I like stuff from all the different countries as long as it’s good. It’s just harder to find the GLs. It seems like Gaga is the only place that really advertises them. Most people in BL groups don’t watch GLs too, or don’t talk about it much.

let me know if you need help finding any of them!

GagaOOlala for mostly asian GLs (though they do have other regions too)

Revry for non-asian queer media

WeTV and IQIYI have/had a couple GLs.

YouTube has quite a number of them. Especially Thai.

Couple of Mirrors is on Youtube and Viki.

Other chinese gls are fansubbed and usually either on youtube or on fansubber blogs.

Many japanese GLs, if not picked up by GagaOOlala, are only done by fansubbers. Some of which (though not all) put them behind a membership access wall due to sub-stealing and copyright issues.

Yea, the overlap between the BL and GL fandoms is smaller than one would initially think. Especially when considering the vocally toxic subsection of both/either.

Don't hesitate to ask for recs or advice on where to find them. And while the temptation to watch on those massive pirate sites is great, I encourage you to inquire here first. A good many are officially free already and watching wherever they get officially posted is much better for the team.

 AthenaTheStorierX:

Yes, ToGetHer. It’s on Wavve, Rakuten, and OneTouch. So international streaming is still up in the air for many regions.

It’s the lesbian equivalent of His Man.

Request ToGetHer (the korean lesbian dating show) on viki!

Also, consider shooting a message to IQIYI (who had the streaming rights for His Man)

I put it under "Product Suggestions"

Uncut version means that it contains scenes that may have been cut for broadcast. Sometimes theyll cut scenes for broadcast and have an uncut version on streaming. *Usually* these scenes are spicy scenes. But that’s not always the case.

But since uncut versions are so often hyped and in demand, some productions will label the episodes uncut even when they didnt cut anything for the broadcast anyway.

So I am starting to watch the Thai GL called Mate and I am going into the series completely blind. Without spoiling ofc what is the general feeling on it ?

I quite enjoyed "Mate". I scored it 8/10, which for me, means it is an above average drama, but not brilliant. I have a list of my top 10 Thai GLs you can look at if you want.

Just understand that most of these Thai GLs are not big budget productions, and some of the actors are relatively new to the industry. But a drama doesn't have to be "Netflix" quality to be entertaining, and there are plenty of "Netflix" quality dramas that I wouldn't watch if you paid me.

Here is my general advice when choosing an drama to watch, based on my time on MDL.

1.) The MDL score is USUALLY a good indicator of the quality of the drama. I say "usually", because sometimes a drama gets review bombed for reasons other than the quality of the drama itself. This can happen for reasons I've listed below. It doesn't take a lot of 1/10 scores to lower an MDL score.

  • An actor involved in the drama has been involved in a controversy.
  • The main plot of the drama involves infidelity by a married person.
  • There is very explicit sexual content.
  • The drama was different than what it was marketed as.

2.) Take the comments and reviews with a grain of salt. In almost every drama on MDL, you will find people who think a drama is perfect and others who think it is terrible. Some criticisms are simply wrong, indicating the person commenting didn't watch the whole drama.

3.) Read the plot summary of MDL, and if it interests you, start watching it. If after two episodes, you're not particularly enjoying it, just drop it and watch something else. You can always come back to it later.

I hope this is of some help.
