I've watched all the currently released Thai GLs and I'm only NOW discovering that some of the shows pilots that were released (eg Gap, Love Senior) have completely different plot/plot deliveries. They even had actresses from other GLs who either had their own shows or soon to be shows in guest spots. My mind is blown. Considering I only discovered the GL/Yuris this year I really wish I could find the Gap pilot. As I was confused by the mention of Mate characters that I never saw. But apparently were in the pilot. Even spotted Anda. As I said mind blown. Now I wanna see all the unaired plots
In the film and TV industry, pilot films and pilot episodes are fairly common as a pitch to sponsors and larger producers. They are a guide, a blueprint, a sample. They are independently produced and designed to evaluate the potential for success of the full-length, larger-budget project. Sometimes, these are publicly available and then taken down when the creators succeed in getting a contract for the larger proposed project. Sometimes, these are kept behind closed doors and just shown at meetings and pitching events.
Thailand’s entertainment industry (especially BL and GL) doesn’t tend to do pilot films and pilot episodes. Instead, they do what is called “pilot trailers.” These are NOT to be confused with “official trailers.” Pilot trailers are only an indication of the direction the team is planning on going towards.
The script is usually not finished (sometimes, not even started) when they film the pilot trailer. So, the events shown are not guaranteed to happen – and often don’t.
Cast doesn’t have to be finalized either. Some studios have literally released pilot trailers so that they can spur up interest for casting. Or the pilot trailer was released and then they did a recasting because of contract negotiations and other roadblocks that might’ve popped up afterwards.
Pilot trailers are usually at the very beginning of production. So, while they are great for building up hype, and that hype helps secure the project's funding, once official teasers and trailers come out, these should be disregarded. Otherwise, you might be coming in with a totally different expectation for what will happen in the drama.
As for GAP specifically, one of the supporting actresses left after filming was done (or close to done). So they had to edit and cut out all the scenes where she was present. Which ofc can be felt in the absence of some plot lines.
the Mate couple however is still in the finished product! Theyre just played by different actresses and have different names. Theyre the couple that own that beach house.
