Affair
First of all why did no one tell me this drama existed. In general I can only watch 1 or 2 episodes in 1 sitting due to the length of episodes but managed to do 4 episodes in 1 sitting
Will contain spoilers ahead
EP1: I love the relationship that Phleng has with her family and she seems she is quite close with her mother and father, able to joke about her mother's bad cooking skills. Wan's mother while wants the best for her daughter and has the right intentions, she comes off cold and arrogant and doesn't seem to show care towards Wan. I believed Phleng was toxic due to the behaviour she displayed just because Wan got a guy's phone number was expanding her social circle. She gave the silent treatment, not fully explaining why she acted the way she did or how she felt and instead of validating Wan's feelings she says 'Get up or Ill never talk to you again'. While this doesn't justify the behaviour, the fact she overheard some of her classmates giving her true opinion about her must have hurt especially hearing about how they feel Wan has do do everything she says as she don't want to risk her mother's job which may be true but never actually asked Wan how she feels about their relationship so shows how deeply insecure Phleng is as she has no one to talk to beside Wan.
EP2: We see Phleng meddle in Wan and Ek's conversation trying to make Ek uncomfortable with her questions. We see Phleng question her feelings as she is unsure whether her feelings are platonic or romantic as there isn't a clear cut line or definition. We see that Ek didn't come the most supportive family with being called 'weak' for crying which is a perfectly valid response for a young kid. It wasn't explained why he couldn't have the guitar. Wan and Phleng had a conversation showing they understand that other people may and come into their social circle so that means less time for each other only for Phleng wanting to know Wan's location and who she was meeting showing she didnt understand the previous conversation and Wan told Phleng how she feels about her behaviour calling her controlling which pushed Phleng to attempt suicide.
EP3: Due to the ending of the second episode I feel like Phleng would benefit from some therapy or counselling to deal with the unhealthy attachment to Wan. This can Wan feel responsibility for Phleng's actions and so has to walk on eggshells around her. This wasn't Phleng consciously manipulating Wan as she was generally hurt at that one person she completely trusts hating her so felt like she shouldn't be alive. She lost both of her parents within minutes to each other. She must have felt immense guilt not realising how desperate and lonely her father must have felt. She already has to have battle that alongside her whole life taken and have to move in with Wan's family where it was clear Wan's father didn't want her there as there is another mouth to feed and he now he is the only one with an income so less money coming in and more money coming out.
