Quantcast

I've just finished "Juliet and Juliet", and I'm comfortable saying that it is the best Thai GL I've watched in 2025, and the second best Thai GL I've ever seen, only behind "ClaireBell", although I have not yet watched "Shades" which I understand is also excellent.

The writing was good, the pacing was excellent and the acting was also very good - especially Napjune's acting in her role as Blue. The production was also of a very high standard.

This is also the first Thai GL where I actually laughed out loud during a sex scene. The biting into the apple and the opening flower were a bit too cheesy for me. I'm fine with directors showing lust / passion indirectly, but I just don't think this was an effective way to do it.

WARNING - BIG SPOILER BELOW

I thought that the way that Blue faked her own death to be too implausible, but I'm sure other viewers were fine with it. I do tend to overanalyse plots.

The bottom line is that this is a excellent drama that I would recommend to anyone, not just GL drama fans.

Be Mine went to GMMTV

Be Mine went to GMMTV

Unfortunately it looks like every other Thai GL. Nothing stands out. :(

It's sad. If only they'd have better cinematography and plots to show. And for them to add butch women as well. But that won't happen so I'm here, outside the Thai GL verse like usual.

I like Kiss Me, Stranger's trailer the most so far. Among 2 other series that are not GL.

Just finished Khom Khlang and wanted to compare it to Khemjira (the BL) since, I'm pretty sure, the GL was made because of how successful Khemjira was in 2025.

Khemjira

Plot: 9/10 the plot is excellent in my opinion, full of mystery and angst with some well placed horror. I love that there is no real 'truly evil' person in the series and more about how jealousy and insecurities can build to cruelty and violence which can lead to victims being warped by those same cruelty and violence. Someone put a lot of thought into this plot and it paid off.

Romance: 8/10 I have a bit of criticism for the romance part from the main couple. I don’t think it flowed as nicely as the plot and at times made me want to roll my eyes but the second couples story helped make up a lot of the issues I had with it.

Khom Khlang

Plot: 7.5/10 The plot started off so strong, but I felt it started to fizzle into this generic plot about half way until it was just evil brother is sad daddy didn't love him more. 🙄 But I keep remembering the start of the drama with such fondness. Those first 3 episodes were so peak.

Romance: 9/10 I feel like I could just add a pic of Bulan and that would be enough. I'm too smitten to remain objective. But really I loved their relationship. I have a special place in my heart for fated lovers and between the loyalty, protectiveness, and longing I was lost to it.

Conclusion: it's interesting to me how flipped I find these two similar dramas. But I've always felt that BLs in general have better story lines then GLs which is why I get burnt out on them faster. I think I will start dropping more dramas in the future like I did with Fairway to Love. I should have dropped Pls Love as well as I ended up hating it. 😮‍💨 I do feel relieved but it always leaves a nagging sensation on my mind of 'what if it got better!?'

@Elemental Star

I haven’t finished Khom Khlang yet but I totally agree with your comparison. I wish the Khom Khlang story were stronger but I loved the romance. I actually liked almost everything about Khemjira but I always want more romance when it’s not front and center. But what was there was so good, I didn’t care.

Btw, I actually like Peem better than Bulan, because I like less femme characters. I think Puinoon did a good job making the character seem badass and with a toned down femininity. She was believable as a cop, despite being insanely gorgeous. Bulan is gorgeous too, and I’m a sucker for tattoos, but she’s not really my type.

I'm very happy about this. I read all four novels and they are quite good. I was disappointed when the original "Be Mine" series was cancelled after the pilot episode but I always thought someone would pick up the rights to the series.

I'm just worried that they're sticking all four of them into one drama. Is that enough time? It had better have 16 or 24 episodes, like the GMMTV BLs that have 4 couples.

I agree a longer series is preferable, but I'm going to guess it won't be any longer than 12 episodes. But even with twelve 50 minute episodes, a skilful writer and director has enough time to tell the four stories well. Most Thai GLs, especially the longer series contain an awful lot of filler scenes because they don't have enough story to fill in all the episodes.
