MDL - AI "drama" policy?

I really hope they keep AI off of MDL. If for no other reason, sheer numbers would make the site's charter impossible or bury it in the clutter. Staff is already struggling to keep up with traditional IRL content dramas. Including AI would just be like dealing with a tsunami?

I've recently posted dramas that have had a single actor with an MDL page; others with very few. And the posts are in Comments since there certainly isn't a drama page. I've given up attempting to save info on the ones where none of the cast has a page on MDL.

I don't have a problem with AI. Of course it's going to be used to enhance and edit productions much like graphics, cgi, etc. But a pure AI drama product should be recognized as it's own genre, or placed into anime?

How about keeping it simple? If there's no cast list with IRL actors, it doesn't belong on MDL?

Even with IRL actors, they should have some designation for the actor, and the actor just allowing the use of their face to construct the AI generated character.

I also asked what was the policy about the face swapping of actors with AI, and my understanding is that they are discussing it.

I'd be fine with banning the fully AI productions. TBH, the vertical dramas themselves are an overwhelming number.

MDL already accepts “series” generated entirely by AI.

It's worth noting that we're talking about “Animated Program” and not “dramas.” It's all in the wording. Lol 🙄

PS: I'm not entirely against AI, but I'm not in favor of generative AI.

Is that what they are calling it? Animated Program? But they won't accept most animation made by real people.

Getting a page on MDL is an easy fix. People / fans can submit edits. But real dramas not getting made and real actors not getting a job ... that can't be fixed, unless people stop supporting / watching the AI .... stuff.

AI is the bane of our existence. Something must be done to contain it and fast. I don't want to spend the rest of my life wondering if what I'm seeing on screen is with real people or not. :(
