Attack on Titan final series SMASHES competition in ratings

I knew this cartoon was big (no pun intended), but the ratings were something like 4x the nearest rival!

So, um, how comes the films were sucky?

Or in Films, since something clearly went wrong with the two films.

Personally, I really liked the visuals - those giants were damn scary!  But the characters, the plot... there must be something very different about the cartoon (I should check them out).
