not fond of sequels i'll have to check back with what ppl say before watching this :x
It's more of a prequel than a sequel. But well, the rule applies.
I'm not sure if you can call it a prequel either. None of the characters or story lines are similar. It seems to be it's own independent series.
it's sort of like the school series, each season has different characters and different events driving the plot but the general premise (in this case young adults looking back on their formative teenage years) is the same. i'm excited but also wary. i know not everyone loved it but i really feel like Reply 1997 is one of the greatest things ever filmed by human hands., so for me this has alot to live up to.
When I first saw Reply 1997's cast; I thought 'Meh' but I end up liking the drama so I will not judge this drama by the cast but I am not holding high expectations either.
I am worried about the basketball theme and all; it woud've been better if they focused on kpop like they did in Reply 1997.
I couldn't stomach the first one, so I'll definitely skip this one (even more so after seeing the events it will focus on).
I heard good things about the second season. I think I should get down to it soon.
I really liked the first one. "Gave it a 10" liked it! but Kdrama sequels make me nervous. I am not sure about this. Maybe someday in the future but right now, no.

The show also has a bit of k-pop focus in it, since the setting is around the time when Seo Taiji and Boys were the craze. Basketball was huge in Korea during this time, so the makers can't really make the story realistic without focusing on something that was a big part of that time.

I liked the first two episodes and enjoyed how the focus is on the characters being new to Seoul and using different dialects. Although there are, of course, lots of similarities between 1997 and 1994 when it comes to tone and whatnot (like the who-will-she-marry mystery), it's still quite different. I'm pretty excited for the next episodes, so I really hope a lot of people give this a try.

I agree I loved the first one so much I dont want to be disappointed with this one....I will wait for feedback before deciding ....
I haven't watched reply 1997(my sister was a huge fan though) I initially planned to watch this for Baro as B1A4 is ultimate favorite group but even before Baro came, I really found the drama interesting and got hooked. Baro is still a plus point though but the story itself is pretty nice and funny too. :)
I'm enjoying it already. The characters so far are endearing and I like the storyline. The pacing is a weak point, but I guess it's to be expected when the drama is 20 episodes and an hour five for each episode. 1997 was much short in length and episodes, so it flew by faster. I'm really interested, though, in how they will develop the relationships in this show. Also, Sung Dong-Il ahjussi is awesome! :)
I watched the first 2 eps and loved it!! you guys where saying that it wasn't the same because the actors where different ect. but in this case it's more about the set up: past (as in it's set up in the 1990's), an obsessive fan girl (her life her surroundings and love life), and accent(Pusan is the most obvious and the one they use in the first one, in the second one they broaden to other places); this i find interesting because it's a new take on new seasons. I personally like this way because when i really like a drama like i did with reply 1997 i wan't to see more but at the same time when they just go on and on it looses it's charm, so this way you have new characters yet the same drama. anyway to make it short i really like this drama and i hope it keeps going the way it is. I also love love love yoo yeon seok and am really happy to see him in this role i think it suits him perfectly.
