Remember at the start of the story when XL ordered XY to be whipped 40 times? In the novel, after XY got whipped, XL let one of the army medical doctors heal her wounds.

Xiao Liu was dragged by the soldiers into the room and the army doctor removed his clothes and put medicine on his back. Xiang Liu stood at the door of the tent and coldly observed. Xiao Liu laid on a wooden board and docilely allowed the army doctor to minister to him. When the medicine was applied and everyone left, Xiang Liu said to Xiao Liu “Make whatever concoction I ask of you. All other times you can continue being your healer in Qing Shui Town. But when I summon you then you must obey immediately.

The drama cut that part out completely and only showed XL stepping on her back right before that fox arrived smh.

I did not know that!! I'm getting really pissed. The Jingers keep throwing all sorts of insults at him because of this!!! 

I hate this. HATE. Not just dislike. HATE IT.

It's not fair. The drama cut out the poison love bug connection too. In the novel, during the time that Jing got married to Fang Feng Yi Ying, Xiao Yao felt so much heartache thinking of Jing getting married to someone else. Due to the love bug connecting Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao, Xiang Liu got to help ease her pain. It's a bit long but read the bolded parts:

Right now Jing and Yi Yang must be standing in the ceremonial hall. The water dropped one by one and each drop was like a poison dropping on Xiao Yao’s heart. It pierced her through into hundreds and thousands of pockmarks. Xiao Yao knew she shouldn’t think about it but it was like she was possessed and she stared at the water clock thinking of when Jing would say his vows.

Did he feel her pain? Or was it because he was currently in Qing Qiu watching Yi Yang and Jing get married and remembered she might not be happy about it? Was he mocking her? Or trying to console her?

Zhuan Xu asked “What are you thinking about?”

Xiao Yao said “I suddenly remembered the voodoo bug I planted in Xiang Liu. My body’s pain, he has to feel all of it. But what about my heartache? Does he also need to endure it? He said he has nine bodies so my pain isn’t too much for him to endure. But what about the heart? He only has one heart!”

Zhuan Xu grabbed Xiao Yao by the shoulders and harshly said “I don’t care what your relationship with him was in Qing Shui Town. Do not remain close to him now!”

Xiao Yao smiled bitterly “I know!”

Zhuan Xu said “Even though you keep saying the bug has no ill effects, when you’re all better it’s best to find a way to remove it.”

Xiang Liu man. He did so much for her. Even helping to lessen her heartache by taking some of her pain on to himself due to Jing making her feel so depressed because he married that Fang Feng girl.

I notice how many he make her feel sad, angry, frustrating, in the verge of being depressed etc..Tho he would be good to show every time he failed her letting her down but she’s still run to him. After all she did think about him having one heart at some point he could be suffocating for him 🫠
