Forgive me, TJC, for I have sinned.

Yuan Zong in Advance Bravely 👀. "Yuan Zong is a former special forces soldier who, upon discharge, formed a company training bodyguards." Based on a BL.

O_O

You're forgiven.

LOL!

I was just in the Gif thread, and thought, "wait, didn't I click on the XL thread?"

Yuan Zong is ... very impressive.  Thank you for the feast.

Back from the days when they were still able to get so much more past the censors.

Wait.

When was this?

Why does a forehead kiss now get people losing their minds?

Oh gosh.

Why couldn't they have filmed it earlier? Tan was already around. Only with some cute chubbier cheeks but that's not a problem.

Maybe only the CGI. But that's not too big of a problem either lolol

This was in the comments section.  Has anyone heard anything about this?

Thank you~ This show is so well produced! I heard rumors that because of the good ratings, they will make spin-off series(Dahuang background). If this is true, I don’t need any other birthday gifts this year! Some lead actors of LYF should make cameo appearance in the drama. Look forward to it!

The heartbreaker is Winner Is King.  That already got approval for distribution and the BL ban dropped, before it could air.  I mean the timing couldn't have been worse.

I haven't but I got super excited about it!!

I was wondering if you knew something about it because those Jingers were saying this was your alt account. You know, when it was mentioned that her birthmark disappeared when she was with Xiang Liu.

That's the level of madness. Lord give me strength to not say what needs to be said.

I really don't know what qualifies as an idol drama.  But I do hope that Tan Jian Ci gets more and better scripts and productions, not to mention lead roles.  I can't believe he's never gotten one before.  Under the Skin maybe, but that was really a co-lead, IMO.  I think the upcoming Love Me Love My Voice will be the first.

I agree.  Doing movies would be idea for him.  The next step.  Plus it would give him more time to continue his singing career.

There is no set definition, but in China idol drama is usually a show that has at least one traffic actor or liuliang (btw TJC is considered somewhat of a liuliang, mid-tier level), xianxias and romance-centric or romcom modern dramas are almost always idol dramas serious actors don't do them, and usually a web only series not broadcast on actual Chinese television channels. I'm hoping his career will somewhat follow the path of Zhu Yilong's where he found a lot of popularity later in his career and in his 30s after over a decade of toiling in supporting roles (ironically Zhu Yilong found this fame through a low budget BL drama Guardian, which BL is now hard banned so TJC's Winner Is King will most likely never air), did a couple of romance dramas (including a famous one Story of Minglan), and then almost completely transitioned into movies with the occasional serious drama, and he is now a critically acclaimed award-winning highly respected and famous serious actor known by the general public not just fandom.

Imo TJC's skills and talent as an actor as they stand right now are worthy of winning major awards, but he will never be considered for any of them until he transitions out of idol dramas/web exclusive series. The only major dramas (in terms of having been picked up for general tv broadcast) he's done so far are Advisors Alliance and its sequel Growling Tiger, Roaring Dragon and The Centimeter of Love. I won't be completely disappointed if he doesn't get nominated for the big awards because a lot of those are also dependent on both industry politics and actual politics, but in an ideal meritorious world he more than deserves to.

Yeah, it's such a pity. He's so beautiful there. And the story seems to be so interesting. I wish they could sell it to another country for distribution. Which will never happen.

Yes, those idol dramas may be what everyone likes and they're what usually pays the bills but it would be so nice to see him in more serious productions where he can put his talents on full display. He has more than proved that he can do it, even before the success of Lost You Forever.

What are those big awards? Can we watch the ceremony just as we watch the Emmys, BAFTA, and the Oscars over here? I want to start following it up :)
