I've read the second one. It's a bit odd reading stories about these characters in English, to be honest. And I don't think the author managed to capture the character really well so it doesn't read like XL. Look at me critiquing fanfiction: "He's not XL enough to tempt me!" :-)

Pride and Prejudice (2005) is one of my favorite movies of all time. That hand flex from Mr. Darcy got me feeling feelings.

I always cringe whenever I get to that scene when she spies on him and he catches her.

I haven't read most of the stuff in the other thread in a while. It sometimes gets depressing with their in-depth analysis....

This movie, this scene, and his confession are everything. I have loved P & P for 18 years. I cannot believe that it's been so long. I need to rewatch it. This is how happy endings are properly written <3

I do agree that the 2005 hand flex scene is iconic. Best part of that version IMO.

Ok, but Colin Firth is on a whole other level. He’s the number 1 in everything. That lake scene alone…

 I think no XL in fanfic is going to be good enough, because Tong Hua builds XL‘s character through her prose style as well and this is really difficult to imitate I think, as this reflects the writer‚s unique voice🤔. And we as the novel reader or drama watcher each has  already a concept of XL in our head influenced with our own interpretation and bias and maybe even our own fanfic as well. I just enjoyed  the smutty to help ease the PAIN😉. My mistake was that I then went digging through the academic thread and it made me depressed all over again ‘sigh‘.

AH‘s fanfic is exception since it‘s basically only give closure to XL-XY story without elaborating more about XL in her fanfic so XL in it stays true to the original novel. I‘ll read her fanfic again after S2 to heal, if after watching S2 I feel XY deserves XL, otherwise I‘ll pretend that XL is reincarnated as Mo Qing Cheng and finally get the girl who deserves him. Hope this drama is as sweet as it looks. I don‘t mind low stakes drama and drown in the sugary sweetness to wash away LYF pain (hope it‘s not boring and has too many fillers). Is it actually confirmed that  it‘s going to be released tomorrow?

And lastly to cheer us all up, I don‘t know if this already posted here or not, but I like it. His clothes‚s pattern looks like snake‘s skin. Happy Sunday!
