Love Song In Winter

36 eps. suspense romance drama, starring HJY (as detective Jiang Chengyi investigating a serial murder case) and Sun Qian (as Lu Yan, an anesthesiologist, who was JCY's girlfriend 8 years earlier).  The cast also features Jackie Li (as Tang Jie) and Guan Zijing (as Da Zhong). (airing from Dec.20 on iQIYI) 

  The original title fit release date, since it was "Dōngzhì  冬至" name of the winter solstice of Dec.20.

A quite satisfying drama with good tension at ep.14 on Dec.24!!

I had a feeling it could be among the top ten since I happened to check Datawin for Dec27 & 28:

It stayed in top ten over following weeks,  as announced after checking their weekly performance on Sundays:

  1. #1 (December 29, 2024) champion with 590  points
  2. #1 (January 5, 2025)   for second time with 576 points for week ending 
  3. #2 (Jan12, 2025) ; 
  4. #6 (Jan19, 2025) 
  5. #8 ( Jan.26, 2025)
  6. #9 (Feb.2, 2025)
  7. #10 (Feb.9, 2025)


Douban rating was a bit harsh, perhaps because HJY  still has many misguided antifans who drag ratings down without even having watched the show (Douban tries to weed them out, but it is difficult) ; perhaps because the drama does pale as a thriller investigation, in comparison with The First Shot, or with an end of January tight packed and gory crime thriller also about serial murders (Drifting Away) ; perhaps because the love story and the thriller mesh imperfectly as episodes rolled by.  Anyway, as usual, that rating can rise with time (or fall)  -click on picture to check latest standing   [it fell to 5.5 on Jan22].
