Since in the end, the king, Cheoljong (male), was feeling that something important was missing, and that was Jang Bong-Hwan (male), returned to the future. The king also asks the real So-Yong (female) why she was formal around him? This means the king loved Jang Bong's version of So-yong.

I know that it is not a BL drama that is why I stated as emotionally because Jang Bong-Hwan knows his gender when he is in So-Yong's body, and Cheoljing (even if he doesn't know Jang Bong-hwan)  fell in love with So-Yong during Jang Bong occupated her body.

Same thoughts. Kinda disappointed the ending didn't confirm my gay ship lol. But there were major gay vibes no lies

100 percent emotionally gay

The king loved the guy,gay or not it's the truth,I feel so sad for the king.Poor guy and definitely the most unfortunate guy. Emotionally gay for sure

I wouldn't consider it gay, unless you consider that all guys who have a male best friend might feel that way, like the king does. Would I fall for my best friend if they were the opposite gender? I'd like to think not, but I couldn't prove it.

100% yes. He's basically gay. Even though their first met actually make her/him kinda fell in love or attracted eo, the moment when cheoljong really fits to love and like soyong is the moment when bonghwan has entered her body. Cheoljong loved both of em, that's why when one of em disappeared he felt something missing, even tho he doesn't know or notice what is what. That's happened to bonghwan too, lol. I read a theory somewhere that bonghwan is actually her(soyong) reincarnation, so like it's make sense why he fell in love (again) w him(cheoljong). Hehe I love it when bonghwan(male) is relief that cheoljong could make it and change the future/present, lol that man real down bad for him

If your going to go that far, you could say any cross dressing drama is emotionally gay or lesbian. Although I have only watched one drama where a guy dresses as a girl and then falls in love with a girl.

Are you talking about gender bender? Like they were male or female before and then got into a body of opposite sex? Then yes, emotionally they are gay or lesbian cause they remember their past life, their partner won't be .

But here in this particular drama the king loved the chef's soul, and the chef also loved the king in his own way

No, I am talking about girls who dress as boys and the boys who fall in love with them. Does that make the boy gay? In Arsenal Military Academy two boys fall for Bai Lu's character when she is a boy. Does that make each of them gay? Gua knew pretty quickly that she was a girl because he roomed with her, but the other didn't. The other only started to pursue her when he was totally sure she was a girl, but he was definitely having doubts about his preference in lovers. Even his roommate found him weird.

In this drama, when the chef has sex with the king, he truly believes that he is having it with the palace maid. He also believes that he is writing to a girl when he and king pass letters back and forth for a night.  The king thought he was having sex with his queen and was writing back and forth with his queen. To call this an emotionally gay drama would be to say that the king believed that his queen was the man from the future. You could say that he did as he listened to what the chef had to say about democracy. So yes, it is emotionally gay for the king, but not for the chef. However, the king was happy in the end even though the chef was no longer in the queen's body. The king does say that he feels like something is missing, but doesn't seem to mind as the queen acts exactly like the chef. The king has a female version of the chef which makes him quite happy.

The king is straight but the chef I think he was bisexual, but the problem is king loved the chef as his lover but the chef probably platonically loved him?or maybe he did love him.

And the king is happy just for few days,he is already feels something is off,the queen is not the chef's soul which he fell in love with,it has a tragic ending-the chef lost his kid,his friends and the king in one day,and the king didn't even know any of that.So tragic .The will never be the chef.

And if a girl dress as a boy and falls for a boy, than the girl is straight but if a boy falls in love with the girl before knowing she is a girl there's a high chance he is bisexual.

Good to hear from you again. I remember our chat about the ending some months ago. Loved your interpretation of it.

So if the king fell in love with a guy's soul wouldn't that make him gay? Remember you have a guy in a girl's body. Everyone says the king fell in love with the chef's soul (a guy). The king knew the queen was guy because the chef told him so in either the first or second episode. Now, whether the king believed it is what would make him gay or not. It seems he did has he began to listen to the chef about democracy.

The chef, on the other hand, he was straight throughout. He thought he was making love to the palace maid. He thought he was writing to one of the concubines. He even became upset when he thought about the queen's soul running around in his body flirting with guys. By the end of the drama, the chef did the hard work of getting the girl to open up and be herself. It was the girl's feelings at the end, not the chef's. That is just my interpretation. Again, your interpretation is valid as well.

Nice chatting with you again.

Hi, it's good to see you again.

The king didn't believe that the queen had another soul,so the entire time he thought he fell in love with a girl  so he is not gay.

But like I said ,I don't know about the chef's feelings, that's why there's a high chance he just feels platonic feeling.

Now he might as well love the king too, like the original version.

But all of these are my interpretation,so it can be wrong too,it's just this drama had one of the saddest ending yet people keep saying it's happy ending, two main character who we watched from start to finish lost each other, platonic or not it was tragic
