Tajia:
The king is straight but the chef I think he was bisexual, but the problem is king loved the chef as his lover but the chef probably platonically loved him?or maybe he did love him.
And the king is happy just for few days,he is already feels something is off,the queen is not the chef's soul which he fell in love with,it has a tragic ending-the chef lost his kid,his friends and the king in one day,and the king didn't even know any of that.So tragic .The will never be the chef.
And if a girl dress as a boy and falls for a boy, than the girl is straight but if a boy falls in love with the girl before knowing she is a girl there's a high chance he is bisexual.
Good to hear from you again. I remember our chat about the ending some months ago. Loved your interpretation of it.
So if the king fell in love with a guy's soul wouldn't that make him gay? Remember you have a guy in a girl's body. Everyone says the king fell in love with the chef's soul (a guy). The king knew the queen was guy because the chef told him so in either the first or second episode. Now, whether the king believed it is what would make him gay or not. It seems he did has he began to listen to the chef about democracy.
The chef, on the other hand, he was straight throughout. He thought he was making love to the palace maid. He thought he was writing to one of the concubines. He even became upset when he thought about the queen's soul running around in his body flirting with guys. By the end of the drama, the chef did the hard work of getting the girl to open up and be herself. It was the girl's feelings at the end, not the chef's. That is just my interpretation. Again, your interpretation is valid as well.
Nice chatting with you again.
