These were all available on official youtube channels, legal and free, when I saw them. Most, perhaps all, probably still are.
Astrophile - A kind, caring and gentle story about kind, caring and gentle people taking care of each other and learning to value themselves, imperfections and all.
Moonlight Chicken - Interwoven stories of loss and healing in a found family of (mostly) gay men, who all have their struggles and arguments but never stop supporting each other.
The Library - 31 minute film, quietly, gently, heartbreakingly beautiful.
Enigma - Creepy AF but not too scary, supernatural. Only four episodes and best binged to carry the energy. What they pull off with acting, lighting and some props is impressive.
He's Coming to Me - A kind-hearted boy who can see ghosts befriends a lonely one, grows up and takes him to live with him at university. As you do. Shenanigans and emotions follow. It's often funny, sometimes sad and so full of acceptance, kindness, warmth and love.
I really like the Thai way with big emotions and the warmth they wrap around them. It's different pacing and feel from k- and c-drama rollercoasters.
These are on Thai PBS, free to stream with English subs. Their website and streaming service (vipa.me) can be tricky to navigate and they've changed things recently so some of the old links on pages might not work. If any interest you, I'm very happy to help.
The Broken Us - Difficult subjects, delicately told with sensitivity and care. I cannot recommend this one highly enough but hesitate to recommend it to anyone in particular because of one of the subjects.
Sweet Sensory - Lovely wee series about friends helping friends with care and respect.
Kru Ma - Unique and very special series about a class of 8-9 yos, their unconventional teacher, creativity, curiosity, and learning what you most care about.
The Rhythm of Life - Excellent youth lakorn.
Some older Thai movies, DM me for links. Thai movies often have this unrushed, we'll get there when we get there feel I've come to adore. Like a two hour conversation with a good friend. Here are a few.
Low Season - Goofy Thai humour mixed with perfectly set up jump scare ghosts but never too scary mixed with a sweet friendship/love story, breath-taking tropical forest settings, great music and a female lead who wears glasses. Excellent one to start with.
Teacher's Diary - Unhurried gem, simple story but so well told.
Suddenly Twenty - Young Mai Davika channeling Audrey Hepburn channeling a feisty gran. Quirky fun but also touching.
Nang Nak - National treasure of a tragic love story.
Pee Mak - Excellent comedy "horror" (it is very NOT scary) adaptation of Nang Nak. Stands alone but you'll miss a layer of humour if you haven't seen the 1999 Nang Nak.
