Quantcast

Hi, since we're going through a heatwave at the moment I want a drama or movie where the heat is almost a character. Hot summer, warm colours, sticky atmosphere. Can be from any country. The genre? Romance and/or crime and mystery would be ideal but I'm open. And yeah, it should be something good :D

The most perfect example I can think of is the movie Are You Lonesome Tonight? (2021).

Maybe:

https://kisskh.at/802324-a-good-child (set in Singapore - hot country-, it's a family movie about the relationship of a dementia mother and her queer second "son")

https://kisskh.at/59001-d-p-dog-day (set in South Korea, a melodrama with action)

https://kisskh.at/3569-the-equator-man (set in South Korea near the sea, a revenge drama)

https://kisskh.at/749485-sha-chen-bao (set in the town with sandstorm happened almost everyday, a crime thriller drama)

https://kisskh.at/7801-wood-job-the-easy-life-in-kamusari (set in a forest -oh but there's rain and fog- but it's usually hot, imo kinda like a self-discovery movie)

Missing 9 is set on a tropical island and has romance and mystery.

Since you like the gritty crime of Are You Lonesome Tonight?, you might want to take a look at the seamy streets and sweat-inducing plot of Akira Kurosawa's Stray Dog.

Criterion Collection description

Bong Joon Ho (Parasite) called Stray Dog a "masterclass in tension."

And then there's In the Mood for Love. Both people and the climate are extra artistically steamy in this classic, beloved by cineastes around the world, but, ironically, rated 7.7on MDL.
