Does a drama where a kid is normal, well behaved and cheeky without being rude, does such drama exist? Is there a drama showing that kids can bring joy?
Flower of Evil - she's cheeky but cute and both parents obviously adore her.
Please Be My Family - both leads are single parents who love their kids who are sweet and well behaved.
First Choice - FL is a single mom who loves her daughter, ML is overjoyed when he learns he has a child, the child is a normal and sweet.
Love Everlasting - FL is a single mom who loves her daughter, ML is very happy when he learns he has a child, the child is a bit precocious but endearing.
Rainkissed Fate- FL is a single mom who loves her twins, ML is soon fond of them before he learns he's their dad and happy when he learns he is (plus there's a third on the way in the end) Both kids are normal and well behaved.
Spring Burning - ML is a single dad who loves his daughter, FL quickly adores her as well. She's a bit mature for her age but very well behaved.
The Night I Got Pregnant by the CEO - FL faces an unexpected pregnancy, but this is never treated as a negative thing by either of the leads.
I would love to see a romance drama finishing with a time jump: three years later a happy couple and a kid.

I'd point out as a notable example The First Night with the Duke in which the leads have six kids (and more planned), both are super happy to just spend time with them (even the formerly rough ML is delighted to sit and braid his daughters' hair, haha).

From what I gather, there are mainly chinese dramas on it (which I do not watch!) while Japanese and Korean (which I watch) are a few and far between. Good for China for making parents a positive example! I wonder if it is a requirement of the censorship bureau to include it? (My cynicism is showing, sorry!)

NP. 😊And, well, to be fair I do mainly watch Chinese dramas (way more than any other country since they're my favorite) so my list is definitely skewed that way. But I do notice it's not especially common for Korean or Japanese dramas to end that way (Korean tend to prefer ending with a wedding and Japanese the couple are usually together/maybe engaged) whereas it's quite common to at least end with an announced pregnancy in Chinese dramas. Might indeed be censorship or just a cultural preference.

Exactly! My latest watch prompted this question which made me realize the lack of positive parenthood representation in Korean and Japanese dramas. With the problems of birth rates in both these countries, I'd have thought they'd lean into it after the happy ending of a romance, to show happy families because these dramas may have an impact on the society in general.
When I saw the number of chines dramas ending with the couple in a family way on your list, I immediately thought that maybe CCP wanted to gently nidge Chinese to make more babies! Thus my question about censorship. If I understand correctly, dramas are highly regulated in China: from allowed topics to the number of episodes so why not pregnancies?

Yeah, you would think they'd lean into it more considering how concerned the Korean and Japanese governments are about the low birth rate, but it just might be cultural...perhaps it's just always been less common to show those sorts of endings so they continue on as usual.
But, yeah, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was encouraged by the government, haha. Nevertheless I enjoy those sort of endings so I'm glad it's pretty common!
