With the talk of demographic decline regularly making headlines, I realized I have rarely (or better yet never) seen an Asian drama where the motherhood and kids are shown in a positive light. I do not mean adult kids but little ones who are not treated as little royals who could do no wrong, who are disciplined and educated. Usually in Korean dramas, kids are insufferable, intitled and rude brats with mothers never accepting that their offspring could do anything wrong! Or we have a brave & smart kid, resorceful because of neglect and/or abuse!
Does a drama where a kid is normal, well behaved and cheeky without being rude, does such drama exist? Is there a drama showing that kids can bring joy?
I know that current Asian societies are basically survival of the fittest/richest and that the price to raise a kid has skyrocketed....but I would love to see a romance drama finishing with a time jump: three years later a happy couple and a kid. I know this is so old world, clichés and whatnot but the young people today get their examples from the media and from how they were raised (spoiled, mostly!) and do not want to repeat the pattern so they have dogs! Where I live, I see young couples walking dogs (sometimes in prams!) not kids! I find that sad!
