So, I'd like to watch a drama to test out my Japanese, but I for it to be a real test I want it to be something I've never seen before. I'm looking for a Japanese drama with a fairly simple plot where the characters speak slowly. The thing is, because I'd like to watch something new, and I feel like watching an episode raw before seeing it subbed is like one big spoiler, I'm looking for a drama that is not a very good one, so I don't spoil a great show with my poor comprehension. Does that make sense? Anyone have any ideas?

hımmm, I saw Risou no Musuko on your list....It is a game like drama, where you can feel the pattern...They do not speak slow but I think it is also oriented to a younger audience so their japanese is not that hard...I do not know japanese but I basically catch the basics...I do not know if this is a good recommendation but...well, you can give it a try I guess.....
Asuko March? It's not exciting, but mildly entertaining. Plus it's not on your list yet. :) It's quite easy to follow, but I can't tell whether the actors speak slowly.
Both are very good sugestions. Risou no Musuko had ben burried by all the romcoms on my list, and Asuko March looks promising as well. Thank you very much!

Lol but that´s an amazing Drama(in my opinion) and I don´t know if it is fitting:p
I would recommend Gokusen...it´s very simple made but EVEN I did understand much when I was in my beginning of watching it.Still it´s pretty exciting too but you don´t need much understanding for that :)

No troubles. :)
if I were u i would watch an anime that has a simple theme like school life. its really easy to understand because they talk like kids and there isnt any thing too crazy to think about
Ah, Gokusen Is a good suggestion. I had been wanting to watch it but thought I probably wouldn't like it much, so I'd been avoiding it.

Ok then I really recommend you.But I only know J-Dramas which I like(exept for Crow/Movie).
yare yare...I must admit Risou no Musuko is one of my favourites, I may have advertised a little :) But Gokusen has become almost a cult...doushiyo ? :) ps: well Gokusen was also pretty simple, actually you are right :)

Hmm I guess that´s why I enjoyed it so much:) The same like in Risou No Musuko. It´s the first time I got so interested in a mother-son relationship:)
Haha no problem I advertise always too~
Only 1 episode to go now in Risou No Musuko..!!I have waited SO long(see Risou No Musuko thread and you know it :D)
well the Risou no Musuko thread shows your suffering :P but I know how you feel, I am holding back not to watch the raw version to enjoy the final...It should be out soon I guess....
For me, they did use some difficult words in Risou no Musuko, but it's not essential for the story line. So it's alright to practise with. I watched Barairo no Seisen without subs and I don't think I missed out on anything. I thought it was pretty easy, but you do have to like the story to watch it. It's a special (6 eps) and it's about a young mother who becomes a model but has to balance her debut with taking care of her children. And her problems with for instance her husband who is against her having a job. So that means you have to like fashion a bit and it's also quite feministic. I liked it though. Muscle Girl is also easy. It's about a group of girl wrestlers and a Korean idol undercover who gets mixed in their struggle to keep their wrestling organisation that's about to shut down. (Lee Hong Ki from F.T.Island) Switch Girl is also very do-able, it's a typical romcom but it's taken from a manga so it's especially funny (you do have to like the humor though, it can also be a bit gross-awkward at times) and the romance moves a bit faster. It's about a really slovenly girl that puts on a stylish popular girl act at school. But ofcourse practically every romcom will do, I hope I was of help to you! :) (Also these maybe, though I'm not too sure: Zettai Kareshi, Yamada Taro Monogatari, Deka Wanko, Scrap Teacher, My Boss My Hero, Paradise Kiss, Lovely Complex, Mendol, Kingyo Club, Kimi wa Petto, Kimi ni Todoke, Hyoten 2006 (one of my favs!), High School Debut, Gachi Baka (Very alike to Gokusen), maybe Buzzer Beat and Anego.)
