i am a fangirl however i am not blinded by the overrated hyped up dramas. i also dun watch because of the sexiness. i care less about the sexiness or cliche plots that i used to watch in mexican soap operas when i was a kid LOL.
you seem like a normal person so i will suggest dramas that i think you will like. however i dun suggest k-dramas.

Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 - this drama was excellent. the first time i watched it i was so annoyed and disgusted by the behavior of the main guy in the beginning. and i stopped. however later i decided to give it another chance cause I know that Ueto Aya's acting is incomparable.Same with Naohito Fujiki's. And indeed, the drama was exactly amazing. It has things to teach you about life that most dramas do not even do so. It has various heavy subjects in it, o i dun think that many can handle it. But if you can, I am sure you will appreciate it. It is not a very fast paced drama, so if you are an impatient viewer then ... i dunno if you will appreciate it as much as i did.

My Girl - so i am not suggesting this because of aiba masaki. i am suggesting this because it is a very warm drama :3 rich with feelings of the daughter towards her dad >.< and the dad towards his daughter . it is a touching story :3 . the acting is pretty good, even the child actress.

Ooku - this drama is amazing BUT IT IS VERY SAD. however the acting is just the best ever! if you think of watching it. do so right now! >o< T_T it brought me to tears many times and the OST is just DIVINE.

J-dramas i have watched and LOVED:
This is a new drama of 2013 but i think that not many are going to watch it because it does not have the super amazing hot actors. It is a drama about the life of two ex prisoners. a woman who killed her husband because he repeatedly beat her up >< , and another woman who was deceived by a host and stole money for him. Itsuka Hi Na Ataru Basho De.the first episode made me cry.

Ai wa Mieru - this is a drama special and it is a true story about a blind woman who got married to a blind man. she was aspiring to be a singer. this drama definitely teaches something to the viewer . Unfortunately,because they were both blind they had to go through various hardships? >o< it is human drama ... i think you should watch cause i do not want to spoil too much >o< . But the acting is amazing >< and i think it is very underrated compared to other specials which people watch because A HOT ACTOR is in it and vote for it cause they dun open their eyes to see beyond their fangirling bubble. -rolls eyes-

The first night happens after the end of world war 2. japan lost the war and the japanese have the american roaming around their place and creating havoc. great acting . the second happens a few years after the war during the time that the japanese students were going crazy and being violent towards their schools. Freeter, Ie o Kau - this drama is not particularly romantic. I cried so much cause it was a moving story. it is about a freeter guy who does not have a job >> and has his parents help him financially. >> He is Being forced because of the mental health of his mother to work hard and find a good job... Acting was great!
