Quantcast

Comment the Asian dramas that you think are underrated and deserve more attention than they are getting, and the rating that you would give that drama.

Duel (2017) - 9.5

Miss Hammurabi (2018) - 9.5

Just Between Lovers (2017) - 9.5

The Nokdu Flower (2019) - 9.5

My Country: The New Age (2010) -9.5

I depends on your taste but -

Heard it through the grapevine.  I just can't believe the rating for this, it should at least be an 8.5. Great comedy, great family drama, great story, brilliant script, great visuals and great acting. You'll be hard pressed to find another Kdrama like it.

Cross. One of my favourite revenge and redemption stories. It's quite probable this one is rated so low because of the scandal created by the actor for the mentor character while it was airing. This resulted in a completely different ending, but the writers handled it well, very well.

Solomon's Perjury. My favourite school drama, with believably intelligent, diverse characters and a great mystery. Don't let the premise fool you, it hardly feels like a school drama. Also good performances from such a young cast.

Save Me 2. Despite being very different and nearly unrelated, it should be rated equally with the first one. I enjoyed it more, and if you can handle the slow build up, you will find it oh so worth it as well.

All these have a low rating, but I consider them hidden gems.

Also I second Just Between Lovers and Miss Hammurabi, but I won't call them particularly underrated.

Sagideka (2019) -9.5

Doctor Detective (2019) - 9.5

Also, I second Solomon's Perjury (2016) and Cross (2018). Solomon's Perjury is also one of my favorite school dramas.

My top two would be

Goodbye to Goodbye

Yeah That's How It Is

both made my 10+ list, and both had smaller viewership, ESPECIALLY Yeah That's How It Is, which had pretty much record low ratings for a weekend Drama, qualifying it as more unknown or unseen than simply undrrated. :)

For me:

Ghostwriter - Jdramas in general aren't that popular in MDL, and this one especially doesn't get the attention it deserves because it's not a romance, a mystery, etc and I think it's such a shame. It's got quite a unique concept centering on a Famous Author suffering from writer's block and her Ghost Writer, and does a great job on playing with all the jealousy and complex feelings between the two women. I thought it was really well done, and I definitely recommend this to anyone interested in a more psychological drama. (The average of 8 is fair, I think, it's just a shame a relatively few people have heard of it or given it a change)

Secret Love Affair - My favorite kdrama and I'll always think it deserves more love lol The relationship between the two leads is wonderful and sweet, and I really appreciated the woman being the more mature and level-headed of the two. The classical piano music was a great addition and never superfluous; it always conveyed something in the way the characters played or interacted with each other during the performance, or in its tone.  It was a breath of fresh air in so many ways, and I can't recommend it enough to those looking for a good romance drama (7.8 is such a low rating, especially for a kdrama! For me it easily deserves a 8.5ish or above average and I personally gave it a 10)

The Flower in Prison (2016) - 9.5
