ML helps FL attract another man? Fairy Godfather/Daddy Long Legs

I KNOW I've seen this trope but I can't remember titles! 

FL is crazy for another. ML feels pity (turns to love, of course) & helps the FL attract the other guy in a fairy godfather-ish way. FL is clueless as the ML's pity turns to attraction. A Daddy Long Legs version (secret helper) might work too depending on dynamics.

I just read  a super-cute book with this trope & I'd like to see a drama version now. Any country is OK.
