Compelling Cdramas

Any Cdramas that don't get boring. That are unique or interesting for the whole thing. Any genre is fine!!! I loved Nirvana in Fire but can't seem to find something as good as that.

-Novoland: Eagle Flag (I think its something to do with the filming, it seems a bit darker and refreshing... more of an Epic)

I'm also going to second Story of Ming Lan (If you can deal with a slow, developed story) & Yanxi Palace (If you like palace politics) & Joy of Life 

*Sorry for giving Kdramas at first ummm, I find it really frustrating when people recommend me dramas that I specifically didn't ask for. But I hope you find something!!

I loooooove Nirvana in Fire. The best drama ever....! I Totally know how you feel. 

So i rate NIF as my only solid 10/10. I i wanna recommend these as around 9.5-9.8 rating. Most are compelling with very rich dybamic characters and narratives:

  • Story of Yanxi Palace
  • The Untamed
  • The story of minglan
  • The Disguiser
  • All is well
  • Three Kingdoms

-Princess Agents

-Arthdal Chronicles (I think the time period, premise and filming are all so unique... I think people give it a bit too much hate. It goes Arthdal C Part 1/2/3 and then there is a Season 2 on the horizon)

-Scarlet Heart Ryeo (okay maybe not the least 'compelling', but it has the least of the Nirvana in Fire feel and has a bit of time travel )

Bear in mind, some are more fantasy-historical... sorry if you don't like that...

The best is Joy of Life but it is highly addictive as there is no slowing down or boring episode.

Also good: 1) The Romance of Tiger & Rose 2)The Legends.

C-Drama

Ashes of Romance - Journey of the daughter of the flower deity who get a poisoned as a baby so that she is not able to love romantically. Very naive in the beginning she has a great character development with pleasure and a lot of sorrow. Great characters and comparable world to "Eternal Love"

Rookie Agent Rough - during the Japanese war a girl with photo graphical memory becomes an unwilling spy for the nation. It is never sure who can be trusted and what is the true. But when she starts to doubt her missions to many things already started. A lot of beloved enemy motive and ethical questions or thoughts in this drama

C-Movie

Monster Hunt - my most beloved C-Movie! A guy becomes pregnant with the baby of the demon king. A female monster hunter finds out and both want to sell the baby when it got born. However, while protecting this baby they develop feelings for it... the movie has many facets - funny, sad, jarring and also deals with serious topics

Taiwan Drama (not what you asked but still in Chinese language)

Autumns Concerto - rich boy fall in love with poor girl and try to save her from her evil stepfather. At a point they get separated and meet again after 6 years. Both have changed but so did their feelings? Rewatched this drama some weeks ago - still love it.

Before we get married - a man and a woman who are about to marry someone meet and realize that they are not happy with the relationships they have. It is not really about the affair of this two it is more about toxic relationships and how hard it is to realize that things changed.

HiStoy - Trapped - a police officer try to catch a gangster boss. It happens that they need to work together in one case and fall in love with each other, while revealing what happened in the past - the couples in this drama are adorable
