I'm searching Dramas like the one's from Joseon Dynasty who we're fighting for Independance.
Or Independant Characters like the female people from Mr. Sunshine.

Chicago Typewriter definitly fits the bill. Part of the story takes place in during the (20th century) japanese occupation, so it is set a little bit later then Mr. Sunshine. But it a also features a female sniper ;)

Not sure if you're into C-dramas but Arsenal Military Academy was fantastic - gender-bender, great chemistry between leads and a lot of history
