With the growing number of reviewers on this website, I think it would be great if we had more filters in the review section - it would make navigating through them easier (especially for the more popular titles where 300+ reviews is a normal thing). Some examples in addition to "most upvoted" and "newest"

  • Recently active - when a review gained a certain number of upvotes in a recent time period
  • Filter by friends/people we follow - sometimes when I want to check reviews of the drama from my friend, it's ridiculously hard to go through all the reviews to find the few I am interested in
  • Order by rating - lowest/highest (or picking which rating reviews we want to see, for example only reviews with rating 7)
  • Search bar for user might be a good idea, where we can just type if user's display name to find their review.

Also, moving Filter by Status to separate button, since most people don't even know it exists under "All languages".

Additional note not related to filters - with how abused "unhelpful" button is, I think it would be good to just completely remove it. It's ridiculous to see reviews with close to 50-100 upvotes being dropped down the review section and be under some that have just 9-10 upvotes, simply because people downvote the reviews no based on them being "unhelpful" but disagreeing with the opinion of the reviewer.

Not clicking "helpful" means the review was not helpful, we don't really need additional button for that.

Totally agree! Particularly the friends filter since I mostly read those first.

And let's not forget the bane of the review section...

Ongoing drama reviews 🤡

Can I please filter out all reviews from the period it was still airing

so far you can only filer out actually "on-going" reviews

Voted!

While we are at it can we please stop people from marking an ongoing drama “completed”.

You have got all my votes on this. And to add on (if any admins are reading), I really think there should be a policy where only accounts that are at least 7 days old (or maybe a certain number of days) can post reviews.

It would definitely cut down on review bombing and make sure quality reviews stand out more.

These would help me most, personally. With friends who review a lot, there's no simple way to find theirs for a given title once it's buried in their collection or lost in the pages for a popular title.

Order by rating would also serve to filter out pages of gushing best thing ever euphoria. If I don't get on with a popular drama, I want to read a variety of opinions and reviews to better understand. Maybe others read it the way I did, or someone has insight which clarifies or re-contextualises something in it which helps me revise my opinion.

I agree, this issue´s been quite misleading for a while.

This. Many reviews I like themselves have like 300 and sometimes 500+ reviews, so going to their profile does not make it easier to find their review for specific title

YES, please ! 🙏🏻

I would love this! I like to read lower rated reviews to get a different perspective but with especially popular and well liked titles it's really hard to find them without having to go through pages of higher rated reviews which makes me give up most of the time.

I don't agree with this.

This only make sense if the voting is compulsory. In the optional voting system like we have now, not clicking helpful does not mean you think the review is unhelpful. I personally see not voting as "neutral" stance.

I think what we need is the option to sort according to Most Upvote (only count the upvotes) and Most Downvote (only the downvotes).

Furthermore, it's about time for MDL to be transparent with the actual numbers of upvote and downvote. A simple text of "1 out 200 found this helpful" would be more than enough to describe anything. This will not prevent the mass up/downvoting of course, but MDL can try to limit the voting to certain number in certain time frame for example, or whatever they think is effective to discourage the abuse.

Other than that, I totally agree with the suggestion in the first post above. I can't vote though because I don't have many votes left. It does not mean that I found this suggestion unhelpful :D

This is not bad. Basically filtering either upvotes or downvotes 👍🏻

But still going through many review sections, at this point downvote is abused so badly, it's more or less useless in terms of what it actually is supposed to be doing. With how the current system works, I believe it brings more harm than good.

Also, if downvotes stay and exists, I do want to know how many downvotes I have under my reviews. The knowledge does not need to be made public, but the authors themselves should be able to check it out.

 Kate:
I do want to know how many downvotes

It's basic for review sites to make this public, but for some reason MDL does not display it LOL (my guess is they don't want to break the site design). If we can see unusual number of downvotes, then it's also easy for reviewers to file a dispute/complain/report.

Make it only visible to person who wrote the review might be better than what we have now, at least.

I rarely go through each drama page (apart from what I am interested in) so I might be missing a lot here. If it's really that bad then maybe total removal might be for the best.

as I wrote in the post. There are situations where reviews with over 50 sometimes over 100 upvotes are under reviews with like 9. And these are well written reviews not the "reaction posts saying how hot leads were". The number of downvotes they would have to get to be so low just makes no sense except people abusing the system to for example make their own review show up higher.

This isn't true across the board but it might be true for some. I don't know what is for the best overall. I would prefer that the gaming which goes on with certain dramas not unduly influence how the rest of the site works.

I do NOT want to know, or to have to resist the temptation to look at, how many down-votes my reviews get. It will just upset me. Will it really benefit you to have a number or will it upset you further?
