The widget trick is neat but it only shows the most recent 80 or so titles in a list. Great while your lists are smaller or if you only want most recent.
I tried it with the Black Hole of Good Intentions, aka my PTW, and found exactly one title to remove. So not entirely useless for my needs, just close :D
Being able to sort by date added would make it easier for me to find and remove dramas I added before I understood my early sources for recs have very different tastes than I do. It was easy and fun to get caught up in their enthusiasm, but it's left a mess. The more recent ones are entirely my responsibility. Less interested in a simple way to clean those up :D :D :D

My tips for off-site hacks for Completed: Letterboxd has an excellent diary set-up and of course there's the good old spreadsheet. On-site hack is using a custom list as an annual diary. Easier than Completed to browse notes on as well. You can record whatever information is important to you.
I use custom lists for PTWs too, (who made it/where I can see it is most useful for me). Very helpful for collecting titles only available with a particular subscription and then prioritising during the time I have it. Or when I fancy a one31 lakorn or some Thai PBS or a GDH movie and I can choose one from a short annotated list.
Which isn't to say that MDL shouldn't have Sort by Date, these are just ways I've found to work around the lack of this and other needed features. Maybe some of them will help someone who happens to see this.
