Quoting in threads

I noticed a new format when quoting posts, which seems fine but I don't seem to be able to delete it in my open post if I need to change it. If there's an image with the quote I can click on that and delete it but that's not enough.

So if it's the second or third quote then I have to start completely over cuz I have to delete the entire post. :-(

ETA: I noticed the highlighted quote stays highlighted in the new post and will delete if I don't click into the blank area first. If that makes sense.

Part 2

I took a screen shot before clicking in the space below to type this sentence. As soon as I starting typing the quoted image in Part 1 deleted.

I didn't click first into the space to "un highlight" the quoted image before typing. When I click into the open post space to type my message then the quote doesn't delete.

Can we get the background and text colours back as everything without the range of colours are bland and boring. I'm confused on the need for the upgrade even though it is more of a downgrade

What are the main changes? Is there a post somewhere with details? I noticed I can actually delete the image in a quoted post but the rest remains. Just wondering what the benefits are?

We are working on getting that back. We are required to upgrade the editor due to compatibility and licenses.
