My Crazy Theory:

The real son is a psycho and tries to kill everybody when they were young because he's illegitimate Sa Eon's "mum" and Hui Ju's "dad". That's why he called her unnie because she sort of is!

The Madame Baek knows her son is alive and covers for him and Mr Hong pretends to be blind because the whole thing was messy and he hoped the boy really died. 

1- I think the FL's mom and ML's dad have or have had an affair. Or at the very very least he has a big crush on her. That would explain why ML's mom, who is shown as very calm and self controlled, cannot even hide her contempt for FL's mom. 

2- I saw someone mention that the psychiatrist (2 ML) likes seafood, like the real Sae On. That would mean that the childhood story 2 ML told was a lie, or if not a total lie, he was the one in the mask? (BTW the use of the mask when they were kids is supposed to make us think of The Man in The Iron Mask right? ) Anyway, then who was the real orphan then? Sae On? He did seem a tiny bit interested in the name of that orphanage. 

3- I also wonder why the kidnapper keeps calling FL unnie, instead of noona...

Yeah it'd make sense if he end the act of being BSE by faking his death and just come back as his real self. 

So, here’s my theory:

Kidnapper is the actually not dead son of chairman Hobg. The accident was caused by real Paik Saeon and that’s why he’s targeting ML.

Real Paik Saeon was sent to the countryside after causing the accident that harmed Hong family and was killed (witnessed by SML)

While FL dont remember real Paik Saeon, Hong In A actually does and wants nothing to do with this mess. The reason she’s back is cause she somehow got clues that her little brother is alive.

Mom is the commander of the kidnapping and her actual target was FL cause she wants son to be with Hong In A.

Sorry if this was already proposed....since I'm not sure I want to read everyone's theories yet in case there are real spoilers, but my own is that this will have echos of Flowers of Evil. 

Theory: There is a real son that got sent away or placed in hiding because the parents found out he's a psychopath or sociopath, and they brought in the ML as a substitute. The real son is the mastermind/puppet master behind the guy with the heterochromia eye condition and wanting to take down his replacement (who is probably the  illegitimate son of someone powerful, because, why not? lol). At first I was suspicious of the 2ML, but now I think the boy he played with as a child was the real son, and he's going to think the ML is that kid who did whatever horrible thing he witnessed. (This could also set us up for some tantalizing trust-distrust push and pull tension between the OTP as well as some love triangle jealousy from the ML.)

Another additional possibility is that the real son was also the one that also caused whatever accident killed the newspaper chairman's son, and injured the FL when they were kids. Since this is a K-drama, the dead son is probably also not actually dead and is probably the 2ML investigating what happened all those years ago. 🤣

I noticed during my rewatch of ep 3 that the 2ML said that he likes seafood when asked -- didn't the mom say her (real) son liked seafood to the ML when he was a kid and shoved a piece of sashimi in his mouth? So another theory is that the 2ML is maybe the psychopath/real son (he is a psychiatrist and would know how to act normal?)...when he is telling the orphanage story, he is actually talking about himself and the scary thing that happened was he killed the playmate from the orphanage, which was what got sent him away....the playmate could also have been the dead Hong son, who was killed because he was a witness to whatever terrible thing the real Paik son did. Regardless, I wonder if the cold cases he is investigating is related to whoever is the psychopath son (since this is a k-drama, one or both of the sons must be alive and one of them must be unhinged 😅😬.)

A Whacky Theory -Sharing What is on my Mind after Ep 4

Background
The ML loved FL since they were children. He also is a imposter of some sort - like maybe not the real kid since his mom tells him "my son loves seafood" but he apparently does not - so I guess this is a common thing they unite on - they are both pretending for their family in some capacity and the ML knows.

As he grew up he realized that FL was to be married to a weirdo guy and for some reason step sis also did not want to marry him (may be she liked someone else and was so in love that she did not care for ML and his rich powerful family). So with her help - it was he, ML - who planned the whole bride-switcheroo.

Now sis will be back and see all the riches her step sis is living in, and so try to break them up? Or if not romantic angle - definitely cause some issues between them.

> Who are the Kidnappers?
The kidnapper is from a group of people who were wronged by ML or so they think. Maybe in the past these people's family were wrongly harmed/killed due to the decision of the ML. HE is mentioned to have been trained as a negotiator as well and has some form of secret spy/police training. So maybe in some political/hostage situation the kidnapper groups' loved ones were not rescued. Either cause ML's family (dad/grandad) ordered it or someone else. But on the front - it was the ML who delivered the news as a reporter or spokesperson. Basically he would have worded it very strongly against the people killed. Hence they have now united to take revenge on him. Maybe ML was the front and mastermind was someone else (maybe ML family)

OR - it is someone who is also related to Nuri Orphanage, and ML family had to do something with it. It was all hidden and probably ML orchestrated it all, again at the orders of his family. But the kidnappers only know of ML being the culprit.

 Also not sure what was the story the SML was sharing about the mansion near the orphanage. And the masked kid. Were he and the actual son of the ML's family (assuming he is the imposter) were friends once. Like the SML will get to know ML is imposter since he knows the reason behind the vanishing of the original son.

Anyways he would most likely end up with the reporter/anchor lady from HBC*.

> FINALE:
In the end all is revealed - and the ML and FL are together, confess their love and take back what belongs to them, bitch-slapping all the evil mothers and sisters on the way, or punching evil power hungry dads while getting their happy ending along with the second leads and help revive NURI orphanage.

P.S: Maybe FL mom - harmed the Chairman's wife and son, in order to make a place for herself and her daughter. She could have also harmed her own husband (FL's real father)

The President Candidate - ML's father also looks shady - he probably had something to do with his son's death, and also Nuri orphanage.

New theory after ep 6:

PSO is the missing twin from the orphanage and kidnapper is the other twin

I don't think PSO and the kidnapper are twins. PSO might be one of the twins though. 

All I hear is 4 missing boys, and we have 4 adult guys that are highly sus: PSO (ML), Sang U (2ML), Kidnapper,  Do Jae (ML's right hand). 

And Sang U only recalls 3 of the missing boys. Why would he remembers everyone but one of them? Cause he's lying, he's probably just looking to expose something by tagging along a journalist on a goose chase. For some reason I feel like Sang U knows much more than he lets on. He wants that journalist with the poor judgement (she's known for that) to follow his lead and "discover" the scoop. I'm almost sure that Sang U is one of the twins.

It seems to me that the kidnapper is subservient to his accomplice. He's taking orders and doing the dirty job. The accomplice would be someone who knows how to talk to a psycho, like a psychiatrist.

Let's go crazy: Sang U and fake PSO are twins (fake PSO either lost memories or thinks his twin is dead). Sang U was supposed to be dead, as well as the real PSO (kidnapper) but they survived and want revenge. Do Jae is in on it, somehow. All four of them are missing boys from the orphanage (that would mean that real PSO was probably adopted when very young).

Baek Sa-eon is the missing twin and the kidnapper is his brother (it would explain why he says he knows BSE the best).

But i'm not sure, I might have misread the dialogue and one of the twins is just a random dude.
