Rejected / Not Acceptable Examples for Titles (China)

Help

The following images must not be used as the main cover image for Mainland China titles. These submissions will be rejected even if they are commonly seen online, displayed on platforms, or widely reposted.

All general rejection rules apply as described in the Global Rejected / Not Acceptable Examples section. The cases below highlight China-specific issues that commonly cause incorrect submissions.

Mainland China Language & Market Identity Violations

Rejected examples include:

  • English-only posters that were not part of the official Mainland China promotion

  • Traditional Chinese posters used in place of Mainland China (Simplified Chinese) materials

  • Mixed-language posters that were not officially released for the China market

  • Overseas-market posters (Korean, Japanese, international) replacing Mainland China promotional visuals

This applies even if:

  • The drama or film fully aired overseas

  • The domestic broadcast was cancelled

  • The title was completed or released abroad

If a Mainland China promotional visual exists, it must be used.

Post-Airing Identity Drift & Spoiler Posters

Rejected examples include:

  • Posters released after airing that:

    • Change the narrative tone

    • Reveal relationships or endings

    • Reframe the title based on the final plot outcomes

  • Posters adopted by platforms or databases after completion that do not reflect the original airing identity

  • Late-stage promotional visuals that override the drama’s established public image

The main cover must represent the title’s stable identity during its original release period, not its retrospective framing.

Platform UI & Algorithm-Generated Visuals

Rejected examples include:

  • Images that exist only as:

    • App thumbnails

    • Recommendation tiles

    • Search-result visuals

  • Platform-generated vertical crops not released as official posters

  • Images where:

    • Titles, credits, or branding were removed

    • Layouts were reformatted for app display

Chinese platforms frequently generate UI-specific artwork. Platform display alone does not make an image an official poster.

Overseas Completion & Distribution Edge Cases

Rejected examples include:

  • Overseas promotional posters replacing Mainland China visuals when:

    • The title began airing in China

    • A Mainland China promotional poster exists

  • Foreign-market posters used as the main cover for:

    • Domestically cancelled but overseas-completed productions

In these cases, the original Mainland China promotional poster remains the correct main cover image.
