The following examples show what must not be used as a main cover image.
Submissions matching any case below will be rejected, even if the image is:
Commonly seen online
Displayed on streaming platforms
Widely reposted on databases or social media
Popularity, visibility, resolution, or visual appeal do not override correctness. These rules apply to all countries and all content types, unless a country-specific exception is explicitly stated.
Unofficial, Fan-Made, or Aggregator Images
The following are never acceptable as main cover images:
Fan-made posters or edits
Images sourced only from blogs, forums, or fan pages
Aggregator-hosted images without an official source
Database-generated or auto-composited covers
“Better than nothing” images submitted as placeholders
Unofficial images do not become acceptable through popularity, circulation, or repeated reuse.
Platform UI, Thumbnails, and App Images
The following are rejected:
Platform thumbnails
App UI images
Homepage banners or carousel images
Search-result images
Playback screenshots or images with UI overlays
Images designed for platform navigation or UI display are not promotional posters.
Cropped, Cleaned, Reconstructed, or AI-Altered Visuals
The following are rejected:
Cropped posters
“Cleaned” images (logos, titles, credits, or text removed)
Rebuilt or reconstructed layouts
Reassembled banner images
AI-enhanced or AI-upscaled visuals
All official branding and original layout must remain fully intact.
Scene Stills, Episode Images, and Screen Captures
The following are not acceptable:
Episode stills
Scene screenshots
Trailer frames
Behind-the-scenes photos
Cast photos not intended as promotional posters
Screenshots or still images are not valid substitutes for promotional visuals.
Incorrect Scope or Context
The following are rejected when used incorrectly:
Episode-specific visuals used on title-level pages
Season-specific visuals used on program-level pages
Spin-off visuals reused for parent titles
Parent-title visuals reused for spin-offs or separate entries
The cover image must exactly match the scope of the page it represents.
Character or Cast Posters Used Incorrectly
Character- or cast-focused posters are rejected only when misused.
Rejected cases include:
Character posters submitted when they were not the official main promotional visual
Cast posters used when a different official main visual exists
Important clarification:
Character- or cast-focused posters are acceptable when they were officially released and used as the main promotional visual for the title.
Temporary, Campaign, or Marketing-Only Materials
The following are rejected:
Countdown posters
Event or fanmeeting visuals
Short-term campaign graphics
Festival schedule posters
Anniversary, remaster, or re-release posters (when not applicable)
Temporary or promotional materials do not replace official main visuals.
Wrong Market or Wrong Release Identity
The following are rejected:
International posters replacing domestic promotional visuals
Mainland or foreign posters replacing local-market posters
Platform redesigns overriding original market promotion
The main cover must represent the correct market and release identity.
Program-Specific Rejections (TV Programs Only)
The following are rejected for TV programs:
Rotating covers without an officially released replacement
Reusing parent-program visuals for spin-offs
Collages or composite images
Logos used as main covers when official posters or visuals exist
Host or Cast Changes
Host or cast changes do not automatically require a cover change. A cover may be updated only if an official replacement visual was released and adopted as the new primary promotional image
Do not change covers based on:
Episode-specific changes
Temporary lineups
Fan preference
Co-Productions — Rejected Cases
The following are rejected:
Secondary-market posters replacing primary-market visuals
Platform-driven redesigns overriding the original lead market’s promotion
Secondary-market materials may exist but are not used as main covers.
Final Reminder
A wrong cover image is worse than no cover image
If no official promotional visual exists, a custom database cover will be applied by approval staff.
Covers must never be reused across different titles
Aggregator-hosted images never override official materials
Orientation and format rules must always be followed
Accuracy, intent, and official usage always take priority over visual polish.
