Live Action BL
Some live action BL (or containing gay romance) and related series/movies that I've watched, dropped or skipped.
If it's not strictly BL or gay m/m romance, I probably skipped it.

401. Inverse Identity
Chinese Drama - 2024, 9 episodes
Not interested.

402. Wandee Goodday
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
A seemingly lighthearted rom com, with a sprinkling of deeper themes such as mental health. Good chemistry from the lads. The boxing concept is fun. It's not perfect, especially because of shaky writing, but I really enjoyed this. If anything, watch it for Yoryak, he's perfection.

403. Blossom Campus
Korean Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
Undecided.

404. Dosei no Shinyu wo Suki ni Natte Shimatta
Japanese Drama - 2024, 1 episode

405. OMG! Vampire: Uncut Version
Thai Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
A campy, sort-of parody full of hot vampires that should've been way more interesting than it was. I did laugh a few times, and the guys had decent chemistry, but ultimately I was bored and ready to move on.

406. Pray in Love Special
Taiwanese Special - 2024, 1 episode
On-hold/undecided.

407. Pray in Love
Taiwanese Drama - 0000, 8 episodes
Unreleased/undecided.

408. Knock Knock, Boys!
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
An actually funny rom com! Good acting and decent chemistry, but the story was too simple to have been stretched this long, so it got a bit uninteresting at times. Some conflicts felt contrived. That aside, it has its cute, romantic, goofy, even emotional moments, so it's worth watching. Also loved the sex positivity and inclusivity.

409. I Hear the Sunspot
Japanese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
A "love" story between a rowdy college student and his hard-of-hearing classmate. Could've been perfect, if not for annoying writing, a forced and unlikeable character, and possibly the most hands-off and one-sided "romance" that doesn't belong in the BL world in 2024. No kiss, if we're being real. Otherwise, worth a watch! LMAO
-
410. The Rebound
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Sweet friends-to-frenemies-to-lovers romance, that could've been wrapped neatly into a simple basketball club story, but the writer decided to insert gangs and shit for half of the story. Still was a fun watch. Good acting, and good chemistry (its saving grace lmao).
-
411. The Trainee
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
I should've dropped this one. But when you have OffGun smack dab in the middle of the poster, part of me expects the story to AT SOME POINT focus on them. That moment didn't come; it felt like they barely got screentime, and the little they got was so disappointing. It's crazy to think that these two would ever have mid chemistry, but the writing just dragged them down. This wasn't an OffGun BL; it was an LGBTQ drama with OffGun sloppily sprinkled on top. We spent more time following an obnoxious love triangle between a bi girl, her bf, and her girl crush. What a waste of time for BL fans.

412. Takara's Treasure
Japanese Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
I enjoyed it, but it's flawed in annoying ways. While the actors are gorgeous and the characters have charming qualities, their overall personalities seem a bit extreme, borderline cartoonish. Takara's constantly aloof, and Taishin's unbelievably... let's say "lacking in knowledge" for a college student. Typical Japanese media tropes, that maybe work in a manga or anime, but in live action are difficult to process. Their acting ability was good, but they weren't working with the best tools that could've been given to them. Chemistry was not great, though cute at times, and kisses... I've seen worse, but they weren't very good. It's a cute watch I guess.

413. Takara's Treasure Spin Off
Japanese Special - 2024, 1 episode
Extra little follow-up. Cute, not much to see here.
-
414. Love in the Apocalypse
Korean Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
Short (a bit over an hour long) end-of-the-world romance, shot vertically. Felt underproduced, and the tone wasn't very fitting for the scenario. Still, we got some great acting and nice chemistry. It's worth a watch, especially for the very well-acted, emotional ending. Hoping (or coping lmao) to see these guys together in a different BL.

415. My Man's Man
Korean Drama - 2024, 50 episodes
Not interested.

416. This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans
Thai Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
Strict chef x cheeky trainee. Very fun, very predictable. Great acting, really good skinship and chemistry (especially the kissing and sex scenes). They even had a likeable side couple that I genuinely liked and didn't feel like it was a waste of time! This could become a comfort show for me, it's easy to watch and just turn your brain off.

417. Century of Love
Thai Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
I love a reincarnation story. It's worth mentioning that this was sort of a BL soap opera/melodrama. Good acting, though inconsistent, and good chemistry. Would've liked better pacing, especially for the buildup of the relationship. Daou's character was a bit irritating, but thankfully Offroad's character was the perfect foil (and overall loveable, adorable, sexy, I could go on...). Not my favorite reincarnation drama, but they squeezed some tears outta me, so good job.

418. Meet You at the Blossom
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Dropped, at 6 out of 12 episodes. So disappointing. Firstly I'll give it the flowers it deserves: it's an actual Chinese BL (danmei) that is uncensored, meaning no "bromance" or subtly implied homoeroticism. This was achieved by their collaboration with Thailand. It's also very pretty to look at, particularly the set designs, costumes, makeup, etc. The action scenes were entertaining.
The leads were attractive, and Jin Xiao Bao's cute mannerisms, facial expressions and spoiled attitude were quite endearing for the first few episodes. But the poor writing just soured his charms, especially as I kept watching. I never found Huai En to be likeable in the slightest, and
the r*ping didn't help. They really had no chemistry, and the writing made it worse;they fall in love (especially Xiao Bao) almost overnight, even after the seemingly straight and ladies' man Xiao Bao's first (yes, first) r*ping by the aphrodisiac-poisoned Huai En. Huai En is "troubled", so Xiao Bao forgives him after he r*pes him again in episode 6. For all their "love", I didn't see them kiss a single time, EXCEPT during the second r*pe. Maybe they kissed after that, but I couldn't be bothered to keep watching.
It bears repeating that I can handle dark themes, toxic relationships and problematic situations. But they need to be backed up by OTHERWISE LIKEABLE CHARACTERS, and clear chemistry. We didn't get those here. -

Thai Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
Not interested.

420. Be Friends First
Thai Drama - 2024, 4 episodes

421. My Love Mix-Up!
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Dropped, 4 out of 12 episodes. Boring, quite frankly. It's not necessarily bad, and I'm sure it'd be enjoyable for some, but I really have no desire to keep going with this one. BIG elephant in the room: is it as good as the Japanese version? Absolutely not, but I'm not judging or rating it by comparing them. On its own, this BL's just a bit mediocre. Acting was mostly fine, except for when they overact for comedic effect. There were constant WhAcKy sound effects that tried their hardest to make things interesting. The writing was fine, I guess? Chemistry was fine too, leaning more bad than good (granted, I only watched 1/3 of the drama, maybe it gets better). Gemini's character was so dull (again, maybe only in the 1/3); he can play the "serious/oblivious" role well, but this character in particular... I just didn't like.

422. Love Sea
Thai Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
Dropped, 2 out of 10 episodes (hour-long episodes mind you). I really couldn't give a shit. Didn't care for the characters. Writing was ass, pacing was horrendous. Aside from good kisses, didn't feel much chemistry. The GL subplot I skipped completely. Moving on!

423. Love Sea Special Episode
Thai Special - 2024, 1 episode

426. Kidnap
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
First off: Ohm; strong start (and he's looking better than ever). Not what I expected (in a bad way). I was expecting something tense, dark. It's called Kidnap after all. Instead, the actual kidnapping situation was relevant for like 2 episodes...? The tone was mostly light, playful and sweet. Can't say the writing was anything special. Like others have mentioned, there's a lot of "nonsense" that happens, which doesn't fit with a "kidnapping" kinda story lmao. The core plot could've been focused on more, and the fluff could've been trimmed off; it was too long for what it is and sometimes I started losing interest. I liked most characters and the couple had good chemistry, which was enough to keep me watching.
