  • Life: Love on the Line

    1. Life: Love on the Line

    Japanese Drama - 2020, 4 episodes

Super cute, realistic, heartbreaking. An almost perfect BL

  • Eternal Yesterday

    2. Eternal Yesterday

    Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

I am such a masochist. This is what Japan does best. They make a BL with a bisare plot and still they managed to make the emotions so raw and natural and of course heartbreaking. If you watch BL to feel good, this is the wrong drama for you. I love it, I love the guys, but my heart is broken and I can’t stop crying :’(

  • The Novelist

    3. The Novelist

    Japanese Drama - 2018, 6 episodes

I recommend starting with Pornographer, but you won’t really appreciate it until after you’ve seen Mood Indigo.

  • Mood Indigo

    4. Mood Indigo

    Japanese Drama - 2019, 6 episodes

Prequel to Pornographer. Mood Indigo is steamier, but it’s not a love story.

  • A Man Who Defies the World of BL

    5. A Man Who Defies the World of BL

    Japanese Special - 2021, 1 episode

Hilarious parody of BL-mangas. I love the lead and the intro song.

  • Jack o' Frost

    6. Jack o' Frost

    Japanese Drama - 2023, 6 episodes

I think the lesson to take away from this drama is how important communication is. When pent up frustration leads to one of the leads breaking up with the other, his partner storms out and is hit by a bike. After that he doesn’t remember his boyfriend. The other guy decides to treat this as a second chance and instead of telling his partner the truth, he insists that they are roommates. Even though I’m a bit annoyed at the last minute conflict resolution they put together l can really appreciate how they managed to make me completely switch who I sympathized with during the breakup scene from when they first showed the scene in the beginning of the drama until they showed it again near the end.

  • Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to Kiss!

    7. Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to Kiss!

    Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

Really cute drama that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Maybe a bit too innocent for my taste though. The title is misleading, there is almost no kissing taking place. Still really cute, I don’t regret the watch.

  • My Beautiful Man

    8. My Beautiful Man

    Japanese Drama - 2021, 6 episodes

It wasn’t bad, but I don’t understand the hype. One character is a bully, the other is way too insecure.

  • Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!

I really liked it until I didn’t. It was cute and funny with an interesting premise and I enjoyed it until the competition came and they suddenly had to put their dating on hold because reasons. Sigh… And then Adachi ends their relationship because he’s suddenly afraid to lose his magic. Without his magic he’s afraid he won’t understand Kurosawa, so his solution is to end their relationship, cause that makes sense. Of course he realizes his mistake in the end and they get together but the viewers don’t get a single kiss. I had expected more from this extremely popular drama.

  • I Cannot Reach You

    10. I Cannot Reach You

    Japanese Drama - 2023, 8 episodes

Watched it all the same day and it probably won’t stay with me long. Revolves around two childhood friends, one of which is in love with the other and has been for a while. Story is cute and simple, chemistry alright, ok acting and no villains. It’s however super cliché. The guys attempt to confess to each other are almost always sabotaged by stupid things like love confessions from random girls, overbearing guy friends, a sudden phone call, someone falling asleep or fainting, a rainfall etc. All super predictable. And it was because of those interruptions that they managed to drag it out for eight episodes.

  • Tokyo in April Is...

    11. Tokyo in April Is...

    Japanese Drama - 2023, 8 episodes

I initially thought the premise was interesting and the child actors story moved me, but somewhere along the way I started to lose interest. This drama lacks good directing, especially for fighting and running scenes. The adult actors didn’t have any chemistry, the kisses were weak and I wasn’t moved by their acting either. The writing also wasn’t very good. Ren never communicated what he felt/wanted until the end. The villains excuses were also weak, evil and unsympathetic parents and a rapey cliché company director.

  • Takara-kun & Amagi-kun

    12. Takara-kun & Amagi-kun

    Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

Forgettable. One guy showed almost no emotion and the other overacted and behaved like a child. I never forgot that they were acting. Still smiled a few times and I didn’t hate it.

  • Senpai, This Can’t Be Love!

    13. Senpai, This Can’t Be Love!

    Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

Didn’t know if I should put this below Amagi-kun or not and that’s mainly because I didn’t remember much of it. But since I written “I didn’t hate it” in that review I decided to rate this lowest. I don’t really have anything to say about this nonsense drama. I thought it was okay, lackluster but okay until the two final episodes. But after them all the potential warm feelings disappeared. I don’t understand why these guys liked each other, but even if I accept that, Keneda’s behavior after they reunited made absolutely no sense. He makes no attempt to reach out and he leaves his senpai alone in his house the entire night because he just forgot about him. Yeah, cause you forget about the people you love that easy. Only way that makes sense is if he has no feelings towards his senpai or if he for some reason wanted to punish him. This show is just nonsense and not even the cute kind.
