Metal Hero series I've finished
Some good shows but nothing that has wowed me
-
1. Choujinki Metalder
Japanese Drama - 1987, 39 episodes
Wasn't on Liveman tier for an 80's toku but it had it's strong points
-
2. Uchuu Keiji Gavan
Japanese Drama - 1982, 44 episodes
Kenji Ohba carries an entire show on his shoulders with his charisma and stuns, alongside a charming suporting cast and a touching finale
-
3. Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya
Japanese Drama - 1988, 50 episodes
Very creative show despite the reduced budget and very likeable cast overall, ninjas are really the old reliable for Toei's tokusatsu
-
4. Juko B-Fighter
Japanese Drama - 1995, 53 episodes
Very flimsy storytelling backed up by variety and excitement the franchise had lacked in a while, I could poke holes to it but it is so entertaining that I get it's hardcore following
-
5. Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain
Japanese Drama - 1991, 53 episodes
Quite the standout episodes, more Winspector basically
-
6. Tokkei Winspector
Japanese Drama - 1990, 49 episodes
Most episodic show so far, with almost non inhuman threats, which mean the criminals of the week had to use subterfuge or very specific ways to stay ahead of the heroes. Live action J-Decker vibes as far as that show's more grounded cases
-
7. B-Fighter Kabuto
Japanese Drama - 1996, 50 episodes
Less cohesive than it's predecessor but a fun time, plus both have concepts that Kobayashi would rework in Megaranger, Gingaman, GoGo-V and Timeranger
-
8. Kyojuu Tokusou Juspion
Japanese Drama - 1985, 46 episodes
Fever dream of a show and glad they got a lead that came close to Ohba's charisma and more scifi elements
-
9. Tokusou Robo Janperson
Japanese Drama - 1993, 50 episodes
It had it's moments but not as good as other shows
-
10. Blue SWAT
Japanese Drama - 1994, 51 episodes
The first half with more cautious/tactical combat was a nice change, sad that it goes away. The intensity and desperation didn't come through considering that it had a setup similar to Jetman
-
11. Jikuu Senshi Spielban
Japanese Drama - 1986, 44 episodes
Kobayashi probably hate watched this show
-
12. Kidou Keiji Jiban
Japanese Drama - 1989, 52 episodes
Entertaining cast but later reveals soured my experience, not helped that the villains felt like a downgrade from Metalder and Jiraiya
-
13. Tokusou Exceedraft
Japanese Drama - 1992, 49 episodes
Sun Vulcan of Metal Hero
-
14. Uchuu Keiji Shaider
Japanese Drama - 1984, 49 episodes
Kiiiiinda too much reliance on LORE but better than Sharivan
-
15. Uchuu Keiji Sharivan
Japanese Drama - 1983, 51 episodes
Ever wanted to see Gavan without Gavan, Sharivan is definetly the former show without the fun
