➺ My 2026 Drama Diary ✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
Dramas I watched in 2026 with personal reflections.
-
1. Idol I
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
➺ Date Started and Completed/Dropped: December 23, 2025 -January 22, 2026
➺ Episodes Completed: 8/12 Episodes [DROPPED]
➺ Reflection:
- The FL is quite layered and feels very human. She's an accomplished lawyer on the side and an obsessed, delulu fangirl on the main.
- The "met-on-high school" trope is kinda eh, but low-key worked as it gave some better context as to why she was deeply attached to the idol...still an asinine trope to use, though.
- The whodunit aspect of this drama is severely undercooked. I honestly couldn't care less about the case.
- The ML reads as nothing more than a depressed idol that keeps making impulsive and irrational decisions for the sake of the FL, which I get , but I wish the show made him more compelling than that.
- The romance feels a bit forceful at times, and again, I seriously couldn't care less about the romance here if I'm being real.
- The commentary about parasocial relationships and celebrity culture is also quite shallow.
- All in all, it has intriguing concepts, but it didn't really do much with it.
- So I've read the killer reveal and it's actually a joke...what. was. THAT.
- I've just learned about the ending, there is apparently zero closure about Maeng's father? Who is pretty much the entire reason as to why she took a career in law? Damn.
- As expected, fanservice-y ending...lol.
➺ Would I Recommend It?:
- You won't miss anything by not watching this.

2. My Dearest
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
➺ Date Started and Completed/Dropped: January 20, 2026 - January 22, 2026
➺ Episodes Completed: 10/10 Episodes
➺ Reflection:
- First two episodes didn't hook me, but as I went on, it ended up becoming so much more than I expected. Beautifully written leads and powerful moments. Jang Hyun yearnmaxxxing 100 (I love him).
➺ Would I Recommend It?:
- YES.

3. Yummy Yummy Yummy
Chinese Drama - 2025, 32 episodes
➺ Date Started and Completed/Dropped: January 22, 2026 -
➺ Episodes Completed: /32 Episodes
➺ Reflection:
- I love the concept!!! Food + Family + Time Travel = a combination I didn't know I needed!
- I love the family dynamics, but FL pretty much hard-carries her entire family.
- It made me laugh several times.
- I don't care about the romance if I'm being real.
- ML is okay, but he doesn't have that much sauce (for now) for me to care.
- I wish this have zero romance in it and just a family-centric, culinary, time travel drama.

4. My Dearest Part 2
Korean Drama - 2023, 11 episodes
➺ Date Started and Completed/Dropped: January 23, 2026 - January 25, 2026
➺ Episodes Completed: 11/11 Episodes
➺ Reflection:
- Full rant here
- My Dearest pt 1 + My Dearest pt 2 = 7/10
➺ Would I Recommend It?:
- Sure, just wasn't for me.

5. Can This Love Be Translated?
Korean Drama - 2026, 12 episodes
!! WIP !!
➺ Date Started and Completed/Dropped: January 25, 2026 - January 27, 2026
➺ Episodes Completed: 12/12 Episodes
➺ Reflection:
- I love the romance with all the quiet/subtle/awkward gestures and coded dialogue (i'm a sucker for this shit!!!), the leads, the chemistry, the vibes, and the pacing. Nothing about their intimacy feels forced and artificial.
- Ngl, I was so quick to judge it when the switch-up happened because I thought the way they portrayed her mental condition was quite dramatized and oversimplified, but as the drama went on, I started easing into it. Anyways, the reveal of who Do-Ra-Mi symbolizes actually made sense and I kinda saw it from a mile away (I thought it symbolized her CPTSD and self-hatred, close enough!)... That being said, the symbolism is a bit awkward and on-the-nose, same goes with other metaphors presented here.
- The entire message of this drama is honestly moving. The key to loving someone is not necessarily to listen, but to understand. However, the way they presented its message was a bit messy.
- The performances are great. The way ML acts through his eyes is so swoon-worthy.
- Some storylines shouldn't have been added to be honest...Like the whole thing with the ex and the second couple. I seriously couldn't care less about it and it felt as though they are just added for obvious filler.
- Despite my issues with the writing ( I would say the writing is a 6/10 at best), I still enjoyed it because of the romance.
➺ Would I Recommend It?:
- YES: If you enjoy the kind of romance that doesn't run on fan-service. The intimacy here feels natural and subtle.
- NO: If you want a deeper and more complex take on mental health.

6. The Eighth Sense
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
➺ Date Started and Completed/Dropped: January 28 , 2026 - January 29, 2026
➺ Episodes Completed: 10/10 Episodes [REWATCH]
➺ Reflection:
- This was such a nice rewatch, but the ending with the ex being the one behind the title of the drama still bothered me LMAO
- I wish they humanized the mean guy more.
- Banger music
- The SKAM influence is strong with this one.
- Editing is kinda weird and still bothered me, but I'm willing to forgive.
- I'm in love with Wetter's music
- Conan Gray song!!!!
- This show knows SUBTLETY. When Jae Won purposely gave Ji Hyeon THAT wetsuit to have an excuse to help him wear it/have physical contact with him when there are other easier options is CHEF'S KISS.
- If the rumors of season 2 is true...I'm slightly worried because I think only one season is good enough.
➺ Would I Recommend It?:
- YES.
