My favorite cdramas of all time.

1. The Prisoner of Beauty
Chinese Drama - 2025, 36 episodes
An absolute masterpiece. This drama was not only my favorite drama of 2025, but it became my favorite drama of all time. It has set the standard on how to write a slowburn romance and a healthy and mature relationship with *great* communication. Ever since I watched this, my expectations have been set so high that no other drama can compare in terms of chemistry and storytelling. Loved everything about this.

2. Love Game in Eastern Fantasy
Chinese Drama - 2024, 32 episodes
-
3. Blossom
Chinese Drama - 2024, 34 episodes
Intelligent main characters and beautifully written rebirth story. The chemistry, intrigue, and cinematography were all so well done. Love, love, love.
-
4. Meet Yourself
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
The perfect healing journey for those in need of recovering from stress, depression, or loss.
-
5. Flourished Peony
Chinese Drama - 2025, 32 episodes
Loved the actors, the characters, the cinematography, the slowburn romance, the friendships, the cultural richness of the Tang dynasty, and the overarching message of the drama.
-
6. Blossoms in Adversity
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
Intelligent FL, supportive ML. I loved how resilient our protagonist was. This was a slow paced story of riches-to-rags and then rags-to-riches again. The female relationships in this drama were some of the best I've seen in cdramas. Highly recommend!

7. Lost You Forever
Chinese Drama - 2023, 39 episodes
Angsty, beautiful, addicting. The world was intricate and the characters were even more complex. A memorable journey, worth rewatching time and again!
-
8. Love Like the Galaxy: Part 1
Chinese Drama - 2022, 27 episodes
Intelligent FL, supportive ML, revenge, slowburn romance, and a sprinkle of political intrigue. This was one of those dramas that had side characters who were as lovable as the main characters. I had a lot of fun.
-
9. Love Like the Galaxy: Part 2
Chinese Drama - 2022, 29 episodes
Not quite as captivating as the first half, but still a decent conclusion to the story.
-
10. Love Between Fairy and Devil
Chinese Drama - 2022, 36 episodes
It took me several years and many tries to get through episode one, but once I did, I was hooked. The chemistry, the story, the characters — all so well done. This was Dylan Wang's best performance, in my opinion, and this was also where I became a fan of Esther Yu. Her acting is not for everyone, but the emotional impact she had on me here was commendable.

11. Nirvana in Fire
Chinese Drama - 2015, 54 episodes
The protagonist was strategic, highly sympathetic, and unrelenting. The script was as smart as him. All of the characters were complex and I enjoyed the dynamics they had with each other. The cinematography, acting, and fight scenes were all very well done. Still one of the best period dramas I've ever watched.
-
12. Scarlet Heart
Chinese Drama - 2011, 35 episodes
When people ask me what the best time travel drama is, I point to Scarlet Heart. In my opinion, this was the original trendsetter. Well-written plot, complex characters, and one hell of an emotional journey. This drama wrecked me, I've never been able to move on from it or go back to rewatch it.
-
13. Legend of the Female General
Chinese Drama - 2025, 36 episodes
The technicalities prevented me from giving it a higher score, but based on enjoyment alone, this show deserved a place on this list. Beautiful love story and amazing main characters. Well worth a watch.
-
14. Eternal Love
Chinese Drama - 2017, 58 episodes
Beautiful world, interesting characters, cruel fates. The drama spanned three lifetimes. It was a long journey, and yes, it did make me cry every step of the way. But the tears were worth it, because the story ended up being my favorite xianxia of all times.
-
15. Battle of Changsha
Chinese Drama - 2014, 32 episodes
Depth, substance, and a whole lot of heart. Hands down, my absolute favorite historical fiction. The cast and the crew really gave it their all to bring justice to this story and the real life events that took place in this drama. I was moved to tears by the performances and I highly recommend this drama to anyone who want something more realistic and insightful from the media they consume.

16. Sound of the Desert
Chinese Drama - 2014, 35 episodes
Loved the drama as much as I loved the novel. Yu Jin was one of the best written FLs I've ever seen / read, and Wei Wu Ji set the standards of how I liked my generals in fiction. A little dated, but still a great love story.
