I wouldn't say the acting is bad but it's very deliberate in a way that's hard to get used to. lowk i'm just sick of the ml's half smile. maybe it just takes a few more episodes to fully immerse myself in this drama so one day perhaps I'll come back to it.

URGH i already don't like the characters and the setup. zhang bin bin's facial expressions are not helping. fl is getting on my nerves. and I despise the past connection trope.

world building is cool and the end was kind of epic. I love the tone of the movie, consistently dark. ml slays but felt so passive for most of the movie. honestly just took a long time to set everything up, I wish they sped it up and had more action. that one old guy from heaven is so funny

too over-the-top. so much telling rather than showing. the storytelling feels cheap and shallow. also when the synopsis said manipulate minds i didn't know they meant literally TnT i thought the fl was like scheming, not literally manipulating minds through some kind of hypnosis magic.

I HATE LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT i hate it sm. i also give zero shits about her previous relationship, sorry not sorry. it's pissing me off. the insomnia is already looking gimmicky. there's quite literally zero good things about this drama.

unfortunately i did not do much new years list cleaning and I feel awkward dropping this now... here's to hoping I do smth with this drama at some point (shrug).

copied over cw notes: some notes at episode 27 since this has been downgraded to my workout drama and it might be awhile before i pick it back up:

i loved the beginning mortal realm arc. her sassiness, his mischief, the way she confessed to him and he was just like "thanks." but then we get back to the immortal world (or whatever it's called) and it gets a little mopey, and for some reason every time xing zhi pops up I want to punch him in the face. he feels so ancient in a bad way, I can't really describe it. the important thing is that something about him is giving me the ick, unfortunately. and this may just be a me thing.

shen li though, she never disappoints. she's been a queen the whole way through. now this is how you do a strong female lead.

i will say that nothing has ever come this close to eternal love/eternal love of dream. the quirky cast of characters, the slivers of humor, and of course, the plot. it's been awhile since i've actually found a xianxia/xuanhuan(??) funny.
