1. The Untamed
Chinese Drama - 2019, 50 episodes
I honestly became so jaded at the world...at the concept of love but this title completely changed what it means to sacrifice, to be faithful, and to love. What a beautiful relationship that transcends through simple understanding of what it means to have a deep bond.
I am literally speechless and want to write a review but I'm still at the 'THIS IS LIFE CHANGING IDK HOW EXACTLY' stage

2. I Hear the Sunspot
Japanese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Simple story with beautiful relationship. I love how this story sheds light on the hearing impaired experience, the crossover of different "worlds", and a beautiful love story that blossoms from this. This is one of my favorite mangas and to see it adapated in drama form so beautifully is such a blessing. I love this so much.

3. Old Fashion Cupcake
Japanese Drama - 2022, 5 episodes
One of the sweetest stories. I remember reading the concept and being quite confused, but it really shows that you are never too old to experience the youth, the wonder that love brings. I think it's a show about exploring the various sides you hold and accepting even ones that society may not. The fact that they can be themselves and explore that part of themselves with one another I think is what makes this relationship so beautiful.
Also love seeing older couples represented in BL (or older character!). Definitely would love to see more!

4. Restart after Come back Home
Japanese Movie - 2020
A comment talked about japanese shows and movies have that power to make you believe in happiness again...and without even complex plots or stories they seem to be able to do this. A lovely slice of life that explores feelings of love and where the protagonist explores his purpose in life. It's a beautiful story I highly recommend.

5. Love in the Big City
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
This series has exactly what most BL series are missing. This is why I believe the genre should also include more realistic depictions of homosexuality, and this series did exactly that. It was painful to watch certain scenes and experience life through the lead, but the situations he faced, the relationships he had, and the whirlwind of love itself were captured in ways that felt like different story arcs. Although it was chaotic and difficult to watch him struggle, it was impossible to look away. The visuals and cinematography were stunning from start to finish, and the acting was so strong that the characters felt like real people. The chemistry made their relationships feel deeply authentic. I was truly moved by this series, so absorbed that it broke me a little, but I think it is important to see every side of a boys love story, and I hope to see more like this.

6. Our Youth
Japanese Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
This film feels like a cinematographic masterpiece in terms of how it was filmed. Every shot feels intentional, from the lighting and mood to the subtle shifts in tone. The attention to detail is remarkable, and it feels fitting that film itself connects the main couple. While the story is familiar, the way it is told feels fresh. The leads’ dynamic beautifully captures how people from different paths can change one another’s lives through genuine, wholesome connection. It is a simple premise, yet some scenes will stay with me for their stunning visuals and unforgettable lines. Beneath it all is a dark undertone that reflects the pain and loneliness teenagers often face, as well as the bleak realities of life that linger even after moments of change. The realistic depictions of homosexuality in Japan were essential and made the series even more powerful. Boys’ Love often focuses on idealized relationships, but this story offers a rare look at reality and feels like a step in the right direction.
