r/KDRAMA Challenge 2023

1. A drama that has one or more tropes that are used in The Heirs

(Completed on 17/03/2023)

Rich cast and a big house.

2.  A drama which subverts a trope

(Completed on 18/02/2023)

The fierce female lead subverts almost every stereotypes.

3.  A drama that was referenced in another drama

(Completed on 25/02/2023)

Re-watched it for the first time. Still a tear-jerker.

4.  A drama chosen by the Wheel of Chance: Food: Kimchi

(Completed on 07/03/2023)

5. A drama chosen by the Wheel of Chance: Tropes: Amnesia

(Completed on 15/07/2023)

6. A drama chosen by the Wheel of Chance: PPL: Health Supplements

(Completed on 01/03/2023)

Everytime I re-watch this drama, it is with a new person.

7. A drama chosen by the  Wheel of Chance: Locations: Palace

(Completed on 28/10/2023)

Warm music.

8. A drama with a main lead that started off as a child actor

Shin Eun-soo debuted in 2016 as teenage version of Jun Ji-hyun's character in Legend of the Blue Sea.

First re-watch. Started season 3 and dropped it.

10.  A drama starring one of the actors from your first drama

(Completed on 20/03/2023)

Still gives the feels. I want to watch it for the first time.

11. A drama starring an actor who has previously won the Baeksang best new actor or actress award

(Completed on 06/09/2023)

Ahn Hyo-seop won the award in 2020 for Dr. Romantic 2.

12. A drama starring an actor who is a member of a Kpop group

13. A drama where two of the main or support cast have been co-stars on multiple occasions

(Completed on 10/01/2023)

I had previously watched this drama till 5th episode and put it on-hold. I restarted the drama. Both Go Min Si and Lee Do Hyun portrays the whole story very well. And the drama is an emotional roller-coaster. You can see the scars and the pain that is hidden in the eyes of easy-going Lee Do Hyun and strong-willed Go Min Si.

14.  A drama with an OST by an artist who has been nominated for or won a MAMA Award for best OST

The drama begins with Wonstein's rendition of Secret Garden. This is one of those dramas I liked without any reason. I binged from episodes 1 to 8 and then painfully waiting for wednesdays.

(Completed on 14/04/2023)

15.  A drama with a multigenerational main cast

(Completed in June last week/July first week)

16.  A drama where one of the main cast shares your zodiac sign

(Completed on 07/10/2023)

First season 3rd rewatch. Still gives all the feels.

17.  A drama where the college alma mater of a character was a plot point

(Completed on 15/02/2023)

One of my go-to dramas. Wasn't planning on rewatching it for the fourth time. But watched the drama to introduce my roommate to kdramas. Nothing can go wrong with this one. :)

18.  A drama with a dream interpretation

(Completed on 04/04/2023)

19.  A drama with minimal or no romance

(Completed on 17/04/2023)

20.  A drama with a main or supporting character that is an athlete

(Completed on 20/09/2023)

Master Piece

21. A drama featuring disguises or false identities

22. A drama which features a character seeking revenge

(Completed on 01/01/2023)

Drama portraying bullying which might be hard to watch. Overall, I liked the drama. Very different from the usual roles played by Song Hye Kyo.  Even if they had hinted Lee Do Hyun's past initially it felt a bit forced later on.

23. A drama with at least one animal pet

Started the drama due to many reasons. It was in my search recommendations. The director's previous works include Age of Youth season1 & 2. But I decided to go with this challenge in the end.

(Completed on 13/04/2023)

24. A drama you always wanted to watch but for some reason have not watched yet

(Completed on 29/10/2023)

Cinematography made me speechless. And the angst. Go Ae-sin and Kudo Hina are too brave and gorgeous for this world. I am glad that I finally watched this drama after putting it off since it aired.

26. A drama from a screenwriter or director whose works you have previously enjoyed

(Completed on 31/07/2023)

27. A drama found by searching existing recommendations

(Completed on 10/10/2023)

This drama kept appearing on my personalised recommendations on MDL. The drama did make me feel single at points.

29. A drama suggested by a fellow KDC participant

(Completed on 01/10/2023)

30. A drama whose title is a direct translation of the Korean title

(Completed on 21/01/2023)

A fantasy drama. Cha Eun Woo's character is different from his previous ones which is a good thing.

31. A drama with an episode which received less than 2% overall viewership rate from Nielson

(Completed on 24/02/2023)

A drama which initiates discussions in various grey topics but kind of leaves them unfinished, same with its ending.

32. A single episode drama

(Completed on  11/01/2023)

33. A long form drama

(Completed on 23/02/2023)

34. A drama with less than 500 watchers on MDL

(Completed on 8/10/2023)

Got the drama from reddit comments.

35. A drama that is at least 10 years old

(Completed on 23/11/2023)

Good one and different from the usual fluffy rom-coms.
