Favorite Gay Short Films - Top 30

One of Matchbox/Strongberry's very best, which is saying a lot. I don't think there's a single M/S short I'd rank below 8.5/10.

I have watched Tilted Summer at least six times and with every watch I find something I hadn't caught before that deepens the story. I've gone back and forth on which half of the main couple is more at "fault," a sign of great writing. Very few situations IRL are black/white, and engaging stories are best told in shades of gray. 

M/S excels at packing layers of gray upon layers of gray in a very short amount of time. TS is a great example of that.

Best JBL of all time? ;)

Sexy, a little kinky, sweet, and yes, romantic.
In its comical way, one of the most true-to-life representations of young gay male desire in BL. 

This is a great example of the Japanese proudly letting their freak flags fly before the PC Police, and Neo-Puritans made human sexuality a dirty concept and beat the joy out of weirdness. Weirdness here defined as that which we feel in our minds, hearts, and bodies but are made to feel ashamed of by a sex-negative culture.

Jang Yoo Sang is heartbreaking perfection in this role. He is one of my favorite actors and he is tragically under-utilized in Korean cinema. He moves me to the core in every role I've seen him play.

Just finished what must have been my fifth watch of "Brake." More revelations I missed before. This is one I will watch again and again.

So many Strongberry shorts help me understand my own adolescent/young adulthood/closeted gay angst, though my experience was decades before these films were made and I went through it halfway around the world from Korea.

CHOOSING to consciously accept incompleteness as a state of being can be a real thing. And that choice itself can change at any time, and thus is itself incomplete...

Bravo.

This is the way to do BL rainbows and unicorns and Teddy Bears, if you must, on a low budget.

I live for angst, distress, transgressive behaviors, and heavy drama of all kinds, but this ode to sweet simplicity and love has my heart. Tears come from happiness too. :)
