objectively the best BL out there

xue junshan stole the whole show. best side character ever

the chemistry between the leads and their relationship is TOP NOTCH! the story is very simple but it still managed to hold me so tightly. the ost is a huge bonus too

the last 10 eps were too rushed which was a bummer, esp the last 2 eps. too many things happening, i blame the no. of eps constraints, it couldve expanded on a lot of scenes better. 

but the first 30 eps just have a lot of remarkable scenes that's why it's still a 10 for me. i love eps 7, 16, 22, 27 & 28 the most! especially pingjin hou's death scene, the escalation of events, the boiling tension, toppled with cao jingxian's kunqu opera in the bg like holy shit.... truly epic. better than any film scenes!! directors should learn from that fr

another reason is that this drama added 2 of xiao zhan's acting career highlights (eps 7 & 10 in particular). i dare you to look at me in the eye and tell this man cannot act i dare you!

heartliming's story touched me SO MUCH. still in tears whenever i think about them. also the degree of realism this drama portrayed was fantastic. this is not just a BL, but a queer story that will evoke some profound feelings deep inside. definitely a must watch!

only gu yiye's character arc is worth watching, the rest is a skip
