Highly recommended. Strong women characters, great melodrama pacing, romance between men, family politics. Set in the 1950s. one31. (Still the best-crafted lakorn I've seen and very satisfying.)

Romance between men, family politics. Let's call it lakorn-light. Set in 1927 or so. Uncut version via Youku, cut televised version from one 31. Both are online I think.

Starts as a light lakorn BL that tries to be a bit of everything, which makes for a bit of a mess but becomes progressively more substantial. Chinese magic, family, some humour, some violence, some historical, most not.

On one31 but only the first two episodes are currently subbed.

Gay romance lakorn, and it's definitely lakorn because otherwise it's a genre-defying exaggerated mess which will give you whiplash from the tone shifts. One ML is working class and very earnest. The other ML isn't. There's a lot of beating other people up. There's a lot of spelled out very clearly in the dialogue moralising. Probably best to binge so the energy carries it. Just don't think about it too much. one31

Pacing in this isn't great. The beginning is crammed full of tropes, which are fun, but the middle drags and the later episodes are very violent and high stress. That will appeal to others.

Nod towards "strong" women characters, often working together, a cute kid and a feisty gran are the highlights.

High production values carry it over the many plot holes but how the amount of abusive male bs didn't trigger me I don't know. The ending felt a let down, though some of that was because I only had auto-generated translations of auto-generated Thai subs for the final episode. Mixed feelings over all.

Fairytale set in a fictional state in India named after a four star Pattaya resort where everyone including rural children speaks fluent Thai and English is the stand in for the written language. The commitment to this alternate reality by all involved make this work. There's a ghost, magic spiders, a critique of corrupt capitalists exploiting a nation woven in, and one of the best Why they can't be together and how it's resolved. For all the exaggeration and nonsense they use to get there, the emotions are strong and true.
Highly recommended. one31. All eps are Eng subbed but it drops out at times during the last three. Aside from one very important moment, everything was developed well enough I could get by on vibes until the subs started again.

Accidentally watched the 1st episode thinking it was something else. Turned out to be more substantial than I expected, especially around Nontha. All in all a fast moving one31 fantasy lakorn.

On-hold/dropped for me after two episodes. It's well enough made but there is so much violence and sexual exploitation of women. Leaning heavily into all of that for thrills whilst nominally criticising past versions of theses things doesn't sit well with me.
